I do a lot of wild life stuff, here is a recent G9/100-400PL hand held at 200mm

@D7K nice hand holding! I also use a G9. Dual IS is really good on the camera. Did you do the last firmware update?

Yes I did and the focusing is greatly improved. That being said for BIF's I still use a small center box and near/far focusing. Human/Animal focus works well for larger animals even in the brush. I've found that I can (even at 71) getting good steady video hand holding using good technique with the PL100-400 always at 200mm (fov FF 400mm) and sometimes even at 300mm (have to use Mercalli at least 50% of the time over 200mm). For wildlife imaging the G9 (especially at 60 FPS (10 bit is only for 10 minutes)) is a key tool. All in a body that costs only $1000 during the frequent sales....

Reyfox wrote on 7/15/2021, 8:28 AM

@D7K I've been using the G9 for almost 3 years now. The time limit for recording really doesn't affect what I do. And now with 10bit 422 internal recording, it's become a stellar video camera. I've always used single point focus for shooting.

I'm quite happy with the camera, especially when I travel.

Thanks! It's a terribly addictive hobby. I'm embarrassed to say how much I've spent on model train stuff. I did most of my buying while laid up in bed for most of 2016 with a pretty severe orthopedic condition (I'm much better now). I'll eventually turn into an old man that makes only model train videos (instead of shooting pretty girls!).

In fact just talking about it makes me want to shoot some video of my model trains:

@alifftudm95 thanks for sharing! In my youth, I built models and painted them. This going back to the 60's. The more complex, the better it was.

Speaking of wildlife. I mostly shoot stills now but think I might get back into making some videos. It's been several year since I've done much with Vegas and I'm surprised how much I've forgotten about video editing. Here's a short video clip I shot this morning with a Canon R5 / 600mm F/4L IS USM II + 1.4x teleconverter. Used the camera's internal SloMo mode which captures at 120fps.

ngjb,

Mixing slow motion and time lapse was very creative, especially the women running along the bridge. Did you do it all in Vegas Pro using masks? I create similar media. I have created one of these each year for the past 11 years, this is NIghtscapes XI.

Wow, this is a great thread...love the videos, folks! Can't believe I never saw it before.

I recently started using Vegas again (did a little editing with it many years ago when it was more of an audio tool). I recently started a YT channel for our Poker nights, another one for the Beach Volleyball that I play...and another one for projects with my kids I'm working on.

POKER
The biggest challenge in the poker videos I started doing was to create the graphics for player hands...trying to get it as close to the televised poker games. Here's where I am so far:

VOLLEYBALL
I use primarily phones as cameras for the volleyball videos I do. Sometimes with 7 phones recording at once. I created my own custom transitions and scoreboard graphics in Vegas for these:

CHILDREN'S PLAYTIME VIDEO
I use 4 cameras for these videos, 2 phones, 1 GoPro and a mirrorless Sony camera. The post production on these is something I spend much more time on than the others listed above:

HAIRCUTTING
Forgot to mention a personal YT channel that I recently posted some hair cutting videos on...and these are actually picking up the most views even though I don't put nearly as much effort into the videos as I do for the others:

Cheers

While I'm waiting on my V19 key, I was perusing the forum to catch up and came across this thread that's 19 pages deep. There are some great videos on here!

Here's a link to some I've done with Vegas (complete with backstories). I've been a user since version 4 and was very active on the forum back in the mid-2000's. I even spent some time working with VASST at the Vegas booth at N.A.B. in Las Vegas years ago. That was a fun time and I met Gary there (he gave me my first copy of Sound Forge). While I'm not as active on the forum as I once was, I am still very actively editing with Vegas!

I'm also waiting on my V19 key. This is the last thing I did in Vegas: https://filmfreeway.com/projects/2246193. Is there an active discord for this?

Hi @Reyfox. Thanks! Love to see yours.... you are welcome to be a FB friend with me too... look at my signature for link towards my FB profile address 🙂. Many times I feel the country/rural side of Europe landscape / view feels more neat and tidy....

I still very new to cycling, where I just invest for better bike in mid May 2021. Still have to limit my movement right now due to local condition and a bit busy with other editing stuff*..., but glad with the cycling, at least for me, I can get off to be lonely for a while - refreshing myself. Hearing nature voices sometimes is the best cure for my stress...

*Some social activities coverage (apologize as these clips have no english subtitles):

Well, it's a 'race' of vaccination progress towards better condition. Glad so far I'm still okay.
