Hello. Is anybody running into issues with the updaters? I wanted to update Soundforge 16 and Vegas Studio 20. I found the link to the newest Vegas Pro software and was able to download that and install the latest version. But I can not install Image Studio and Soundforge because the updaters start and shortly after just stop. Nothing is downloaded! I tried with my older laptop, same issue. Is Magix doing some maintenance right now? It is frustrating to be missing all the other components. Thanks in advance for suggestions!

@Loic-Rathscheck Are you on Win11? If so this thread may help with Soundforge and the link in the last post your solution https://www.vegascreativesoftware.info/us/forum/vegas-pro-20-installer-includes-sound-forge-64bit-audio-install-fails--137830/

Hello Eric. No I use 10 which works best for me right now

Loic-Rathscheck wrote on 11/6/2022, 8:18 PM

I used to be able to start the updater / downloader with no issues. Both my window 10 computers can't get the program to download the software. Is there another way for me to get Soundforge, Image and Edit? I am missing those now. Thank you

Hello Roger. Thank you for the links. These are the installers. Unfortunately, they do not work. When started, they stop after a few minutes. I am missing Soundforge, Image and Edit. Maybe I can get those without the downloader as I did with Vegas pro 20. Cheers

Downloaded V 214 to try again from 139 which is working very well. Following the Soundforge Pro 16 upgrade which includes iZotope RX10 I can confirm that RX10 voice Denoise is not working correctly in either V139 or 214. On a single clip (XAVCS 4K) in adaptive mode or in learn mode (RX7 works fine). It ends in V20 not responding and crashing, white screen with no recovery.

Can i update Vegas 19 Edit to Vegas 20 pro

That should be possible. The best way to find out is to follow the upgrade link to Vegas Pro 20 and VEGAS' upgrade process will automatically let you know your eligibility and cost before you need to finalise the purchase.

Thank you Eric via email. Yes indeed, it was my router that was blooking the download / magix webpage. The installer worked once I resolved the issue.

Disappointment...

Been using Vegas for more than a decade, never before had the program crash so many times as Vegas 20 did when editing simple 1080p mp4 files. I'm gonna switch back to 19 until the developers fix all the current issues. At least in 19 I was able to edit mp4 files without any lag or crashes, and mov files with little lag and occasional crashes. All this makes me so sad about the program's future, seeing the gap that is continuously growing between Vegas and other competitors such as Davinci or Premiere...

Specs:

Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-9700 CPU @ 3.00GHz

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660 Ti

Motherboard Z390 AORUS PRO

64 GB RAM

Windows 10

@konstantinos-sokolas There is nothing sad about the program's future.

@konstantinos-sokolas Which VP19 build did you find the most reliable, what build are you returning to?

Which build was least reliable?

For what it's worth, I'm now getting on much better with V20 after initial crashing and stuttering problems coming from v19 636. Turning off legacy HEVC was the first big fix (widely reported by many others) but have also finally realised that proxies made in v19 don't play nicely in v20. I guess that might be to do with the HEVC switch. Projects that are v20 'native' - i.e. proxies created within v20 perfom well - so AVC files including 10bit 60fps from a A7siii play OK without proxies (better than I think they did in v19). HEVC files play a little worse than they did in v19 without proxies, but with proxies created in v20 they play fine as you'd expect. Nice and stable so far. I was worried about worse rendering quality with legacy HEVC off, but I personally can't see a difference for my level of delivery at least. Windows 11, AMD 5900x, 6700xt, 64gb RAM.

@VEGASDerek

When option "Trim event to show all frames" is used in "events with velocity envelopes", it only works correctly in Version 19 build 550. After that version it didn't work anymore.

Version 19 build 550 (work fine in events with velocity envelopes)

Version 19 build 636 or higher (not work in events with velocity envelopes)

I know this is not a priority at the moment, but it is very important and useful for people like me who use the slow motion or fast motion effect a lot and need to adjust the length of the events.

And there is still this issue with ProRes 4444 files with alpha channel which prevents the use of this file format.

@VEGASDerek

A follow up to my posts of Vegas V20-214 not responding when re-visiting my older projects (V18) to re-edit to 4K 25p from HD 24p (original media XAVCS 4K 25p).

My older projects contain HD timeline at 24p (time stretch media from 25p to 24p ie reduced to 96% as I was rendering to BluRay 24p format).

1st step I do after opening the V18 project is change the project template to 25p and separate the clips slightly on the time line so I can work on each clip. V20 is slightly laggy at this time. I change the video clip properties to conform to project frame rate (click button), I then do the same to the sound track properties and take off the time stretch (pull down option to choose none). This generally goes fine and as the clips are converted back to 25p V20 lag reduces. However if you try and do editing V20-214 will randomly go into non-responding and white screen. It seems not to like time stretch video mixing on the time line. I had a similar issue when V18 was first released, developers were able to reproduce this and a fix was found and implemented in an update. V20-139 seems much more tolerant of this and does not white screen nearly as much. Once all the clips have been converted back to 25p V20-214 is much happier and is much more stable while editing (levels filter, pan crop, stabilization, resize clips, change volume level).

V20-214 (and V20-139) do not work correctly with Elements RX10 voice denoise which comes bundled with the Sound forge upgrade. Both the adaptive and learn modes cause freezing of the timeline and eventual white screen crash. Elements RX7 of this feature works correctly with no crash.

I hope this helps create a more stable version of Vegas in a future update.

Could you please add real MKV-Support? I know there's an experimental checkbox and I activated it, but didn't work.

Former user wrote on 11/11/2022, 7:38 PM

@DasFragezeichen

Mkv is supported without Gpu decode(last time I checked) for H.264. and probably H.265, but not VP9, if you're using a YT downloader and download a MKV, it will be VP9

Question for the Vegas folks: I spent quite some time to research on Youtube (and on forum here) about the best way to setup & tweak Vegas 19 to work the best with my system without crashing.

But now that I installed Vegas 20, I would LOVE to be able to migrate all of those settings, preferences and tweak from Vegas 19 to 20, without having to start from scratch again with the new version. Is there a way to do that ? Thanks.

My editing machine specs: Intel i9700k CPU @3.6ghz, Rog Strix gaming RTX2080 graphic card, 64GB DDR4 Corsair memory @4300MHz, Corsair power supply HX850i Platinum, Asus Maximux Formula XI gaming motherboard,
Corsair H150i pro water cooling system, Corsair ML120 pro fans system, Samsung 970 pro NVME M2 drive using Windows 10 pro.

There is an export preferences option under the Options menu which may be helpful.

Does Vegas Pro 20 allow rendering a 5.1 Surround Dolby Digital .ac3 file? I am currently running VP18 and that feature was omitted in that version so I'm having to use VP16 when I need to render a surround .ac3 file.
