I just updated my Vegas Pro 21 Edit as instructed by support and now it crashes when trying to open. I was able to find the 108 Version and It works Fine
At what point in the launch procedure does the cause occur?
Right before the software would fully load.The software is mostly white. Same place where any update window would show up
Oh and it comes up "want to send a report to Vegas" and you here the error "ding"
Does the error report let you see more information? There may be a clue there. If you send it you can include a link to this thread, too.
No I hit Send and once it finishes it all crashes to Windows 11 desktop

Unfortunately I have 5 more weddings for the remainder of the year and cannot afford to try and update it again. I found the 108 Build Installer and fortunately all plug ins and such are still connected so sticking with this until my edits are done.
I can see others are crashing to desktop and some is even locking up computers so there has got to be a connection.
That's fine, stick with what works. When you can come back to it try sharing that info with us and you can put a link to this thread in the box and your email so the developers can see it's connected.

@Sandhill_Films not everyone is crashing to desktop! As I reported elsewhere, I've worked over 6 hours non stop on a UHD 4K 50P video, and not one crash. I do incremental saves as I progress. B187 has been rock solid for me using my computer (signature), with the latest Win11 Pro updated and the latest AMD drivers.
But, if B108 is working, go for it! Hopefully, there will be another update to solve this issue that is plaguing some users.
This user is saying the program won't even start, so incremental saves won't help and it doesn't matter if it doesn't crash for other users. For every user who comes here to report a problem there must be many others in the same situation we never hear from.
Once she finishes her projects we can get back to troubleshooting what's wrong with 187 on this system as it really should at least start! Or if the crash reports sent to date are enough for VCS staff to fix it that's great.

And those are the ones you rarely if ever, hear from. So knowing where it is working and where it isn't, can help in the process of trying to see where the fault is.

If you will read my signature you will see I have the latest Windows 11 build and the best i9 system available as of December last year. The video card is not the highest but still has been rock solid on 108 build except for the Autosave feature quite working BUT the 187 build crashes as soon as it starts to fully lauch.
Also I didnt say everyone was crashing BUT there are definitely many that are. Maybe its nVidia but 19, 20 and 21 (108 build) have all worked fine before. Also I just have EDIT, maybe it is that. I don't even use Boris, or any of the hard of system plug ins. I just use stock and WAVES audio plug ins. I also occassionally use FilmConvert, Neat VIdeo, but rarely now.
Know that the team has seen the various crash reports and is hard at work isolating causes for them. They will be addressed as soon as possible.
Look at the Windows Reliability History and report any information about the errors that may seem relevant.

@Sandhill_Films, several others have posted that they are having issues with this build of VP21. I often read these, look at their profile/signature to see what differences in hardware do they have than mine. With your hardware and along with the previous builds/versions of Vegas that have worked, is a head scratcher for sure for me. B187 should theoretically work! I am one of the few with an all AMD computer in this forum. My only issues so far, have been graphics driver related, which are easy for me to fix. But I do understand the frustration of something not working, when it did in the past.
The only reason I mention the plugins I am use, along with the footage resolution, is that while my projects might not be as complex as others, nor as long (several have mentioned to having issues with long video projects), is to give a different view of someone who isn't experiencing the reported issues.
Vegas, throughout me using it (VP14-21), has for the most part, been stable, with this current build (187) allowing me over 6 hours of uninterrupted editing. It is disheartening to read of yours, and others posting who can't get things working, when they were working before.
I am confident that the developers will find a solution for you and the others. It's good you can still fall back to B108 and continue on editing.

For some reason I do not get a fault when Vegas Pro 21 (build 187) crashed.
@Sandhill_Films It could have to do with your last project's video format if you have Vegas set to automatically reopen your last project on startup. If that's the case, the MediaInfo on your footage would help diagnose the problem.
I have always been able to update the software since I bought Vegas Pro Edit 17. My projects always just start at 4K unless I change it at the splash screen. Sadly even build 208 doesn't work either
