Vegas Pro 21 Edit Will Not Open After The 187 Update

@Sandhill_Films It could have to do with your last project's video format if you have Vegas set to automatically reopen your last project on startup. If that's the case, the MediaInfo on your footage would help diagnose the problem.

@Sandhill_Films did you follow the resetting instructions exactly?

Yes I am but the software will not start long enough for me to do anything. I do the CTRL + SHIFT and click the icon and it brings up the Windows thing to hit YES so I know it's working but just before the software fully opens, I get a "ding" sound that Vegas had an error and to Send Report

But is VEGAS set up to load the last project automatically at startup? If so try to move all the media somewhere else temporarily to get it to start. Then uncheck that option.

@Sandhill_Films Perhaps clearing the current project list could solve your issue...

If there is a corrupt project, or a project manually deleted and still listed as a former project, then Vegas can crash at start-up.

Deleting the Vegas projects list in the registry solved my start-up crash recently.

You can safely delete these items in the registry, the projects themselves are not deleted.

The problem is I have 3 more weddings to edit before January 8, and I am afraid if I keep trying to do this update, I am worried that the 108 Build may quit working and I WOULD BE SCREWED. I have signed contracts worth a good deal of money with these couples to produce all their wedding films, i.e. Teaser, Highlight, Ceremony, First Dances, Speeches and a Doc Edit for one of the couples and I only have till January 8th to deliver these.

Not sure if any of you saw my other post about losing the ability to have AutoSave within the software NOT working now? Wondering if that is related to this issue. My Vegas Pro Edit 21 no longer does the AutoSave feature. I now have to bring back up the software AFTER a crash then go to Tool > Advanced Save > click the top right for Restore and then select the latest autosave and Restore Selected.

I used to just go to C > USER > My Name > AppData > Local > Vegas Pro > Vegas Pro 21.0 and the auto save would be there. The last time THAT worked was October 17 of this year. THAT NO LONGER WORKS

See the image for the last file that was autosaved

Try renaming C :\Program Files\VEGAS\VEGAS Pro 21.0\UPS\Service_rel_u_x64_vc16.exe by adding .old at the end and restart Vegas 21-187 or newer.

Wild guess: this program is related to a Vegas update process.

@Sandhill_Films unless the update brings something to the table that you absolutely have to have, stay with B108 until all your work is done. I never update in the middle of work. Never, for fear of something going wrong, as deadlines draw near. I can "play" later.

Once work is done, then you can do a complete uninstall (I use Revo Pro Uninstaller, but there is a FREE version too), or even create another Admin account on my computer to install the software and see if it's the computer or something in my main account that is causing the issue.

But again, I would never update in the middle of editing paid work unless there is an issue. Heck, I would even go back to a previous known working version if necessary. What ever it takes to finish the project.

For sure, just thought I would give it one more shot since I had just finished one client and was about to start another one. I thought maybe that the new Build 208 may have fixed the issue I was having.
