@onlyway If you temporarily put the LUT in the c:\ folder does it load?

Marcin-Przytulski wrote on 9/10/2025, 6:58 AM

Hi, my new Vegas 23 doesn’t see the audio from MOV 4K files recorded on the Lumix S5II – there’s only video, no audio at all. Fortunately, Vegas 20 does see it and I can work with those files. Please, fix this issue once and for all.

Also, I’d like to add that Lumix produces 4 audio channels in those MOV files, out of which two are empty. It would be great if Vegas could anticipate this and allow the user to choose which channels to import onto the timeline automatically.

First brief tests within the timeline seem encouraging.
LOVE the improvements on Window Layout options.
One odd quirk: When I installed it on my main editing computer (Win11Pro), it installed but made no shortcut in the Start Menu. I had to go to Program Files and the Vegas subfolders to run Vegas230.exe from there. I was able then to Pin it to the Taskbar. On the other installation (Laptop running Win11Pro), it installed and also made a shortcut in the Start Menu as usual. Odd.

@Marcin-Przytulski Could you provide details on what kind of files from the S5II that don't work? I have several files here from that camera and don't see a problem. Could you please share a link to download a short sample of media where the audio isn't loading?

I looked at the list of new features, how many nice, good things there are in version 23, whether it's worth switching, etc. And what makes me sad is that it doesn't include an easy-to-use Titler. We still have to use third-party solutions, apply effects manually, or, in the best case, turn on the old titler. There are a lot of great things in Vegas, I love it, but a good Titler is a serious missing.

Tried updating but getting this error The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process. (0x80070020) Can I just download the editor V23 and run it alongside my previous V22? Where's the link for that?

@m3lquixd We would like to "fix" this but I am not able to follow your request. Could you explain with some reproducable steps and expectations?

Hey @VEGASPascal, good afternoon! Thanks for your attention! Below is a video explaining it. By the way, this update is really good! Vegas has a new look!

@Marcin-Przytulski, as @RogerS suggested above, can you provide the Lumix S5II sample for our testing?

I'm on Windows 10.

Downloaded the trial of 23. Purchased 23. Uninstalled 23. Downloaded the "real" version from Magix site. Tried to install, and when I opened it, it is apparently still the trial version. Plugged in my "real" serial number, and it wouldn't accept it, as I guess the program is still looking for the serial for the trial version. Tried the uninstall/install multiple times. Same result. Any suggestions?

Thank you. Len

I am very disappointed. Vegas 23 still cannot import CRM files and they have the extension "Pro" in their name!

I like the new possibilities of the user interface. I edit audio with VEGAS more than video, but it has always felt a little weird and uncomfortable. This is better. And I can easily switch to a different configuration for video.

Hi, I'm having a problem with the cursor. With VP22, when I clicked on it, playback would freeze and allow me to perform the necessary actions (typically cutting). Now, if I click on the cursor, the track annoyingly skips forward. I tried looking at the various options, but I didn't find anything that solved the problem.

Funny thing: Each and every time I upgrade my Vegas Pro (Have enjoyed Vegas since the very first version 3) - no matter how much I search here or in Help I can not find the "More and ..." to add a "Save as" button after the "Save" - and I always forget how I did it the last time :) - Could it be made a little more intuitive for 24 ? - another question: How can I fade the very strong track colors ? (I alse searched for this - but just got every answer containing the word "Change" or "Track" or "Color" - and that is too many to find the answer.

@ritsmer

How can I fade the very strong track colors ?

Go to Options/Preferences/Display (tab) and the track colors (8 in all) can each be individually selected using the color selector window accessed by clicking on the color block just to the R of the track field.

The annoying undo buffer crash still exists in VP23. Can you please fix this?

If you don't know what this is, after a long time of editing, if I try to undo something, usually a titles and text change undo, I get an error message due to an undo buffer error. If I don't immediately save the file, I'll lose what I did because the next action performed will cause the program to crash. This bug has been around for quite a while. I have gotten accustomed to saving my project every couple of minutes

Testing the updated AV1 render as this is my go to export format. I spent long hours a few months ago to get the VBR setting to maximise quality at reasonable file size. VBR setting I settled on was 55Mbps Ave and 106Mbps Max. So far there are some issues I am experiencing:

1). The quality of the out put is now great compared to AV1 in V22 and before.

2). The template does not allow GPU encoding (my RTX 4080 super encodes fast in Happy Otter Render+), my CPU is significantly slower by 3-4 times than GPU. Could we have GPU encoding option please.

3). The template is quite restrictive on what you can change. Max ave bit rate is 100 with max rate of 100.
I tried customising to get my 55/106 by choosing 75/100 and saving the customised template, but it is prone to
render failure with an unknown error, see below. It only seems stable when rendering at the default setting of 20/40.

4) Would be great to be able to change the audio codec in the template, I like AC3 for example.

5). I re imported an AV1 rendered video and had some distorted images during playback and while paused, see below:

(Intel 3rd gen i5@4.1GHz, 32GB RAM, SSD, 1080Ti GPU, Windows 10) Not now used with Vegas.

Windows 10, I thought version 23 used Windows 11?

VP 23 should work fine in Windows 10.

@ritsmer In vp23 you can still add a button to the top line of icons on the toolbar with Options/Customize Toolbar. If you do it via a short script, you can also use a better looking png for the icon rather that the blaaa Vegas white one. Be nice if pointing at any toolbar with a right-click would get you there in vp24 without having to memorize all the menus.

Do people how purchased Vegas Pro 22 get a free upgrade to Vegas Pro 23?

rafa-jakubowski wrote on 9/11/2025, 11:05 AM

Thank you for improving the support for the X-Touch One.
Unfortunately, even with an i7-14700F and RTX 4060, the program struggles to display the timeline smoothly when working with Lumix GH5/GH6 MOV files. Compared to the previous version, it now freezes less often, but playback is still very choppy and far from smooth. The GPU usage rarely goes above ~14%, which makes the experience frustrating.

No but if you purchased V22 within the 14 day return you could cancel the purchase and buy V23 instead. - I think.
