I cannot confirm, logo footage doesn't crash my VP23B302.

Dexcon wrote on 12/28/2025, 5:41 AM

Same here. No problem importing that video event into VP23 build 302.

I see from your signature that your GPU is an RX 560 which is now getting rather elderly. Try turning off GPU acceleration in either or both Options/Preferences/File I/O and Tabs to see if any of those on/off combinations make a difference.

First off, it's important to know what we are dealing with. It's ProRes 4444. 23 has had so many issues with ProRes- I'd stay in 22 if that's what you are working with (gamma issues and more).

I can confirm it crashes my 23.356 (testing with RTX 5070 desktop).

Or turn back to VP23.302 since VP23.356 is withdrawn due to several issues, especially with ProRes.

It makes no sense to report issues with a build that doesn't exist (anymore).

302 isn't really a good option for ProRes as certain ProRes4444 with transparency are also broken. So I can't recommend it. Literally every public build of 23 has significant problems with ProRes.

I and @Dexcon could import @iEmby ProRes clip without issues and with transparency in VP23.302. Not everyone has the option to revert back to VP22. Also if VP22 performs better than VP23, than VP23 better is also withdrawn...

@RogerS

Actually i create & export this logo animation in VP 22 250...

working very well in 22 without changing any setting.

I think its ProRes Issue With 23..

Bcoz AMD is working very well for 22.

For me 22_250 is the most stable version of the VEGAS History.

Thanks for sharing this file, it's the first crash I've seen with ProRes vs transparency and gamma issues that have plagued 23. Hopefully the next build addresses them but in the meanwhile I think you are wise to stay with 22.

For users who have to work with 23 I'd convert problematic ProRes to MAGICYUV, PNG or another format as a workaround.

What happens when you create and render the logo animation directly in VP23.302?

I could create a transparent ProRes render with VP23.302 and also could import the render without issues back into VP23.302.

A user like iEmby is likely using various generated ProRes media. Just because one works doesn't mean VEGAS is reliable. Search the forum for prior discussions of this.

Ok this worked in my 23_302 now..
so confused.

  • if it is AMD issue then how i is working well with DISABLE LEGACY AVC DECODING in 22
  • and if it is ProRes issue then how it is working now in 23

but here is a bad thing with ENABLE LEGACY AVC DECODING it worked.
but it show preview like this

@iEmby okay, since you were able now to open your VP22.250 rendered ProRes file in VP23.302, your issue is solved yet. And: always keep your vegs at a safe place!

Ok now i just generated by converting my own PNG sequence logo into a mov file.
RENDERED TEMPLATE: ProRes 444

It is importing well in 23_302 but with a solid black background but with below properties loaded.

I have to change it manually to Straight (Unmatted)
Working OK Now.

For Test, this is new file.

@iEmby Are you sure you rendered to ProRes 4444? This is what I get :

Howard-Vigorita wrote on 12/28/2025, 10:53 AM

@iEmby A simpler approach, if you can figure out a way to generate them, might be to do the animated logo as an image sequence of transparent pngs. My own logo is a single frame consisting of a transparent png which isn't animated but works like a charm when I stretch it across my renders. I would expect an image sequence to also work but I don't know how the performance might compare to Prores.

3POINT wrote on 12/28/2025, 11:11 AM

@iEmby Make sure that legacy AVC encoding is enabled, that makes the difference between transparency or a black background.

@iEmby As I wrote in my previous post, enabling legacy AVC encoding makes the difference.

A PNG still image sequence works well, but takes up 2.63 GB vs 180 MB for Pro Res for this logo.

In a UHD project the Pro Res plays at full frame rate in Vegas Pro 22-250 while the image sequence struggles.

Then, there is MagicYUV...

MagicYUV plays at full frame rate in a UHD project and takes up 214 MB. Plus, it's lossless.

When the logo animation is created with Vegaspro, the easiest way is to keep it's veggie and use that veggie as nested overlay in other projects. No GB or MB needed, just a few KB for the veggie and the advantage that the animation stays editable. Only for export for use into other NLE'S I would export to ProRes or to an Image sequence.

... and the music swelled to a glorious crescendo thrilling everyone in earshot as @3POINT sang to the choir.

This is just a thought experiment to me for I am the Nesting King for all of eternity.
