VEGAS Pro Feature Requests

Hello,

Tip for those who are interested.
This was a request (page 6 Amivideotek nr.19) for in a new version of Vegas Pro that I suggested to be able to copy all kinds of files such as videos, drawings and music down the clipboard immediately from the Windows File Explorer and paste it in the timeline of Vegas Pro.
I have found and buy a solution for this, namely with 'Comfort Clipboard Pro'.
This works very easily for me when I want to make a composition and use and try out many files that are placed in different folders. I always use the Windows File Explorer to place files in the timeline, which is why this helps me a lot. Try it, maybe it can help you too!

You can also use the program for his real thing, namely as a clipboard manager. https://www.comfortsoftware.com/clipboard-manager/

With that I would like to thank the creators of 'Comfort Clipboard Pro' again because the new revision 9.3.0.0 shows an thumbnail of the copied videos and images at my request, which makes use even easier.

Can the render template disable frame rate settings? users set the frame via Project Settings. The export template will always follow project settings.

I don't see any reason why would editors all of sudden wanna render to a weird frame rate format when he/she been editing let say 25FPS timeline and decided to export 29.9FPS or 60FPS settings?

Maybe only Resolutions can be change because it can be conform easily.

This extra tweaking often lead new users confused why their video have weird unsync audio/weird choppy frames.

I would like to have the TRIMMER be integrated into the Color Grading Panel. So that I can

1, right click on timeline "Open in Trimmer", and the Trimmer opened automatically with my event;

2, double click in Vegas-Explorer, and the Trimmer opened automatically with my clip.

After I selected I can

- left-mouse bring the trimmed area onto timeline with both video and audio;

- CTRL+left-mouse bring the trimmed video onto timeline;

- ALT+ left-mouse bring the trimmed audio onto timeline.

Somewhere a button to close it.

Not sure what you are after. All the trimmer features you described above are already available (in similar ways).

How does this relate the to the Color Grade Panel?

Yelandkeil wrote on 4/4/2021, 6:15 AM

@Marco.

Like the Color Grading plugin, I really wish VEGAS would give us the option to toggle between Text Generated Media without having to click the Edit Generated Media icon each time.

Particularly in subtitling, this cumbersome workflow can be a hazard.

So to cut a long story short - say you have three texts and I open the edit button to one of them. The minute I click on the next one, the editing box should change accordingly to that.

This is my suggestion.

The text could use a huge overhaul, but I'll take this is a small consolation thing while more pressing features are being worked on

Hey,guys, as I've searched the web for an official contact with Magix and getting only support accounts, so I've decided to write this post here with the hope some Magix developer see it.
First of all, I love working with Vegas, doing it for over 12 years now, and it's still my favorite NLE, but with the rise of streaming services and social media, I think there should be a further improvement in Vegas in terms of captioning. Adobe already have implemented a caption solution with Premiere 14.9 version, but Vegas still relies on add-ons. I've been using the Vegasaur Plug-In - (https://vegasaur.com )for years now, making subtitles for feature film and social media videos, and I think its the better captoning tool to date, that allows great flexability and in depth manipulations of the generated captions. What I'm trying to propose here is an implementation of Vegasaur in the next versions of Vegas, with the option to import/export the dedicated subtitle tracks as a text or subtitle formats (txt,srt,sub,xml,ass, etc.) with their final edited timecodes. Another suggestions is to be able to implement closed caption multrack streams in the output containers like mkv/mp4. That's all,guys! Take care and happy editing!

A small tweak for selecting events or time-periods with the mouse. It would be very useful and more intuitive to be able to drag-select from the current scrub position without the in-point moving to where the cursor is.

I suggest shift-drag to select from wherever the scrub line (the shift key can then can be released once the in point has been established) and the out point is set to wherever the mouse button is released as is already the case.

Please see this post.

Any chance of better integration with iZotope modules and audio editor (for Sound Forge also)?

Dexcon wrote on 4/13/2021, 7:56 AM

Currently (in Sound Forge), the RX module pops up. I'm not sure if Vegas Pro integrates with Sound Forge (it's part of the 365 suite, after all). It would be useful to be able to work with the same components/files/events in the one system (Vegas Pro).

I'm currently having to manage and remember three sets of files, and it doesn't help that Sound Forge keeps the original file you opened after you saved it as something else. (So when you subsequently save the file, you end up overwriting the original audio file inadvertently!)

It's a bit of a mess. RX doesn't do some really basic audio functions, like stereo-to-mono, compression, or volume. So I do that first in Sound Forge, and whatever I can do for the Izotope VST modules that pop up. Then load up RX to do spectral editing. And then save it to the folder where my Vegas projects are. Wash, rinse and repeat!

Izotope told me that they don't support Sound Forge (or Vegas). I'm not sure why. Are the other systems better or more "standard" or are there API or library issues that make it difficult to integrate?

The nice thing about Vegas Pro is that if I update an audio file, it retains all the FX and attributes of the previous file. No need to re-jig any of the audio events in any way. :)

Grazie wrote on 4/14/2021, 7:04 AM

I have RX appear as a chosen Audio editor. I can work in RX and the finished work to come back as a Take. I also get RX plugs appear within VP. Also in RX I can select any ANY SFXs available, RX has a Module to do this.

What’s the issues?

The suggestion by @Grazie reminded me of a request I made many years ago, and that is in Options/Preferences/Audio that the 'Preferred Audio Editor' field provide an option of, say, at least three pre-selected audio editor choices so that the audio editor in that session can be easily chosen whether it be Sound Forge Pro, SpectraLayers, RX or even Audacity. A simple selection from a predetermined chosen selection would avoid the need to have to drill down though the C drive folders and subfolders currently needed to be done each time in order to select the .exe file so as to change the preferred audio editor from one to another.

EDIT: The following is what I am suggesting:

@Grazie  ... are you saying that Options/Preferences/Audio 'Preferred Audio Editor' field already provides something like a dropdown box to choose a pre-selected choice of audio editor? I am just not seeing that. For years with Vegas Pro, right up to 18, I've had to hit the Browse button against that field and drill down to the C drive Program Files folders to locate the .exe file for the audio audio editor that I want to use. If I want to change to another audio editor, I need to again use Browse to drill down to the C drive Program Files folders to locate the .exe file for the other audio editor that I want to use this time. If an easy choice option to change the audio editor is currently available, I have obviously missed it and would be most grateful about how to access that choice.

BETTER CONTROLLER SUPPORT. (MIDI, OSC, AND KEYBOARD MAPPING)

If I'm not mistaken, Vegas MIDI support and shortcut assigning has not improved or changed in any way since version 12. IMHO it's time. Folks that don't use controllers won't care, but once you start using them you'll love it! :)

The most straight forward way to map your midi shortcuts to your controller would be via an OVERLAY over every software button on the interface. Click on that button with your mouse, then touch the Controllers Button or fader, or knob that you want to assign it to.

Check out how the VJ Software Resolume approaches this:

(starts at 1:00)

Easy, straightforward, fast!

The community here could share different preferences for different controllers here.

By the way the overlay method could be also used for assigning or changing keyboard shortcuts!

Vegas pro should add support for digital mixing desk and faderport or to make things easier to team up with another company to make there own hardware large storage units Nas and vegas mixing console

Da Vinci and avid have hardware support dose VEGAS pro support NAS something like Synology https://event.synology.com/en-uk/Drive_remote_work? I'm thinking of getting one. Would VEGAS automatically backup to the CLOUD SERVICE during an editing just in case if It crash I know Synology other cloud Nas do automatic backups and raid.

When you have to do the 321 backup rule manually is a thing people don't do

I think storage units is integrated into the avid software https://www.avid.com/products/avid-nexis and avid dominate calibration and backups

So can sonology be integrated into Vegas stream pos 365 or Vegas hub please
