@Grazie  ... Re the preferred audio editor, what I am suggesting is an easy selection in Options/Preferences/Audio that is something like this:

... where there is a one click choice to change the audio editor. This would avoid the need to delve into the subfolders of Program Files and Program Files (x86) to find the .exe file for the various audio editors that is currently required each and every time it is wanted to change to another audio editor. In the above example, only one checkbox can be selected at a time of course.

It is impossible to export 4K video in vertical format inside VEGAS Pro.

In project settings, its possible to set the width/height to whatever value. It act like compositing softwares. Which is extremely great.

But upon rendering, when we select custom frame size, it will force back 3840 value to 2304 pixels in height.

Please make it possible. The demand in Vertical videos is increasing day by day. Some even projected on giant LCD panel on buildings, which make sense why client/Agency request 4K quality in 9:16 ratio

In Vegas Pro 19, include Text Engine Preferences to include all Indian Languages including Telugu language for typing and exporting, which is not available upto Vegas Pro 18.

@Ca.F

If you are interested in a concrete realisation of your suggestions, you should elaborate your suggestions in much more detail.
With "better roto tools" , "better masking tools" and "Also a new ui would be nice" no developer - and certainly not you - can start working.

Try to proceed like this:

  •     What exactly is the problem
  •     What exactly is the goal

for each of your proposed points.

Because - if the developers would now take up your vague suggestions - you could sit back in your armchair and say: "but that's not how I imagined it......".

I'd like the ability to save keyframe sequences for things like Pan/Crop animation, Pan/Crop mask animation, Media Generator animation, etc, as a preset. At present you can only save one keyframe as a preset.

@Marco. Can you explain please. Whenever I've tried to save a preset of a FX that has a sequence of keyframes, it saves the preset with just one keyframe, the keyframe that the cursor happens to be on at the time of saving

@Marco. 'FX Packages save keyframe sequences'.
Thanks for that. I've just looked up FX Packages in the Help system and see what you mean. However, these only work on FXs. I wanted to be able to save keyframe sequences for Pan/Crop masking and the keyframe set for this isn't included in the saved FX package (unless I've missed something else).

I think 3POINT explains what you are referring to in this thread.

Marco. wrote on 4/28/2021, 5:05 AM

@Jack S That's correct, FX Packages only save FX animation not Pan/Crop nor Track Motion animations.

Jack S wrote on 4/28/2021, 5:13 AM

@Marco. Thanks for confirming. My original 'feature request' stands, but I'll modify it to make it more succinct..

@EricLNZ Thanks also. I did find that info in the help, from @Marco.'s comment. Sometimes it's difficult to find something in Help without knowing the term to search for.

Reinstate AC3 encoder and decoder for 5.1 audio.

Reinstate the import of mvc file with 5.1 ac3 audio track.

Reinstate DVD Architect Pro and upgrade it to 64 bit.

The only useful part of Vegas Pro is the MVC encoder.

As always, it's a matter of opinion - and what exactly you do with a programme.
For my part, I use about 100 other functions in Vegas Pro - and the MVC encoder not at all.
It's good that Vegas Pro has so many facets - so we can choose.

alifftudm95 wrote on 5/10/2021, 2:43 PM

I know Some people use Handbrake as alternative for VEGAS Pro version of "Media Encoder" from Adobe.

But I like the whole thing can be done by the product itself without relying on 3rd party.

The Swap files button is very smart, it replace file base on original name, which is good & bad. The bad part, what if the proxy file accidentally moved to source clip folder which will mess up the whole projects. It will be smart if it able to remembered & recognized which one is original & proxy clip with different naming/labeling on the proxy clip. This may required cache or whatnot. So the simple solution is to add label "P" on the proxy clip. For example video clip C0039 is the original file, C0039_P is the proxy file. So u can toggle on/off between Original clip & proxy clip like any other NLE.

However, you need to batch render them to transcode to a much more friendly codec. That is the whole point of proxy. However, VEGAS Pro cant batch render multiple files from project media. Maybe a Proxy button on Project Media tab will launch the render dialog for batch processing. You can pick format & templates like the normal render panel. You can select auto create folder, which is smart enuf to generate a new folder besides VEG main file to stored the proxy clip. You can choose between Original name, Proxy labeling or Date/Time for the proxy clip.

I know this can be done with a script, but I feel its not official & missing as standard NLE

The swap files was created for Sony camera specifically which can create instant/realtime proxy files when recording if I'm not mistaken. Correct me if Im wrong.

Many container formats allow you to give individual streams names/titles/labels. For example, when I record my desktop via OBS, I will record desktop audio and my microphone to separate streams, making it easier to edit them. I have OBS set to label these tracks appropriately in the output file:

Vegas supports using files with multiple streams perfectly, but it doesn't read or display the stream names, and simply displays their number:

My feature request is fairly simple: make Vegas read and display these stream names, something like this:

Yes, it's fairly easy to figure out which stream is which, especially if you remember what the numbers are. But this small feature could've helped me out a few times.

I would like to see Vegas Pro as a host for Izotope Ozone Elements 9 to skip some trips into Sound Forge. I compared it to Audition and Fairlight and the interface for EQ (and the Rx plugins) is really excellent.

[Edit: While not listed as compatible by Izotope, the 32-bit VST 2 DLL loads in Vegas Pro. Maybe the issue is more that VP needs better VST3 and 64-bit support.]
