Hey Guys. Updated vegas 19 to build 643. It completely broke my project, so as HEVC decoding. Everytime I open project, it crashes straight away. It starts in 636 build, but some files are missing, and it show absurd on the screen, and eventually crashes again. It says it's a problem with So4reader.dll. Please help :(

All drivers are up to date, so as codecs, windows and GPU.

Specs - RTX 3090, i9-7960x, 128GB Ram.

Sometimes when updating Vegas some preferences are set to default.

Try opening Vegas without opening a project. Go to Options -> Preferences -> File I/O Tab -> And pick "Enable legacy HEVC decoding"

Restart Vegas and open the project again. That may fix the issue.

Tried that already, so as changing So4rader.dll name to _So4rader.dll. No luck.

The default in 643 should be legacy HEVC. You tried non-legacy as well?

If files are missing, though it sounds like you may need to uninstall and reinstall the program. Don't rename files Vegas needs to function, either.

Yes, so as reinstalling different versions.

You didn't actually say that. You said you reset it but both a new install and reset of VP 19 643 will result in legacy HEVC being chosen as the default.

Re: reset, did you do a reset like this and get a prompt to clear the cache? link

You said Vegas crashes when you load this project. Can you load Vegas with a different project or does that also crash? What kind of HEVC is it specifically using MediaInfo, and can you make a sample available to see if it would load on our systems?

If none of that works you might need an official support request

@Kloverton Any chance you can make one of your 8k hevc clips available for downloadable from a cloud drive? I recall a Vegas engineer testing one of your experia clips once but can't seem to locate it. I don't have a 3090 but I could try it with a 1660 or 1050 as well as amd and intel graphics.

This is probably way too obvious, but isn't there a So4 Disable in the hidden "Internal Preferences"? (which you access by executing a SHFT-while clicking Options in the Menu Bar.) Almost certainly you've seen this, but ....just in case.

RogerS wrote on 7/30/2022, 8:33 PM

so4disable is in file i/o in VP 19. Legacy AVC and HEVC. The internal preferences is a bit complex at this time, not just on/off.

One thing I'm noticing... your project settings aren't right... it says you have it set to interlaced, when you want progressive for 8k content. Also, are you using proxies? Studio drivers and not game ready? Also, a mediainfo report of your 8k media would be helpful.

I have a 3090 and can help test if you upload a media sample to google drive.
