Voukoder in Vegas Pro 23 - how to install basic version?

marcinzm wrote on 9/9/2025, 9:44 AM

Hello,

I know that Voukoder plugin is no longer supported. I mean basic version of Voukoder.

Do you know how to install Voukoder plugin in Vegas Pro 23?

I tried to reinstall connector and Voukoder plugin which was released for Vegas Pro 22, but I have been still not seeing Voukoder in my render template.

Do you know how to fix this issue?

Regards
Marcin

The developer didn't update it to work with the revised file io system of 23.

I love Voukoder basic as well. I imagine there will be no new connector created for it as it has been discontinued. But you can give this a try:

TO CONNECT VOUKODER CLASSIC TO A NEW VERSION OF VEGAS PRO WITHOUT CONNECTOR RELEASE:

1.      Copy this file :  Voukoder-x64.fio2007-config  from   C:\Program Files\VEGAS\VEGAS Pro 2x.0   (replace X with the older version number you had previously installed)

2.      Copy it to the SAME location in the new Vegas version installation (and recommend keeping a backup copy of this file as well as in the next step). Note it is in the main directory (whereas the file in the next step is in a subdirectory).

3.      Manually copy the file voukoderplug.dll from your PREVIOUS Vegas install, to the SAME directory THAT YOU WILL CREATE in the new Vegas Pro installation  "...\VEGAS Pro 2y.0\FileIO Plug-Ins\voukoderplug" (y is the new version number, so if you just installed Vegas Pro 23, the directory will be \VEGAS Pro 23.0\FileIO Plug-Ins\voukoderplug - the underlined part is the part you need to create)

4.      You should be good to go after restarting Vegas Pro.

That didn't work for me- did you test this advice with 23?

Was it AI generated? This worked for older versions.

diamond204 wrote on 9/9/2025, 9:20 PM

I have not tried myself but my understanding is that is what has worked in the past. Is the FileIO plugin directory still present and similar as with version 22?

VP23 changed things for 3rd party plugins. I sense corruption spreading through the AI continuum.

I installed Voukoder Pro yesterday, selected Vegas Pro 23 folder during installation (because Vegas Pro 22 folder was displayed initially), but it also didn't work. I suppose that Voukoder developer will have to do changes in the installation file.

Voukoder Pro is very much overkill for my simple needs - I only need to export an Eac3 file of high quality from surround wavs. I also couldn't figure it out whereas the classic version was very simple. And it also looks like the author is going to be charging $80 per year to upgrade to a new version that will link to the new releases of programs like Vegas. Ugggg.

At some point in the near future I will try the V23 trial and see if I can get classic working. The config file I mention above simply points to the path of the required DLL file so if Vegas changed the plugin directory structure it may be as simple as changing the path that exists in the config file.

Were you able sucessfuly to fix the availability issue in VP23 with Voukouder Classic?

Interesting, will author agree to make the connector for money? How much will it cost? I love classic and hate pro (pro is so much complicated)

The maker abandoned classic in favor of Pro. Feel free to ask in the Voukoder forum.

could this possibly be a bug?

Something about file io structure changed and the expectation is the developers will update it.

Sorry gentlemen, Voukoder Classic has reached its end-of-life. Its unlikely that the plugin will ever be updated to work with Vegas Pro 23 etc. Its further development is no more and have been replaced with Voukoder Pro. Its also no longer on their website for downloading.

marcinzm wrote on 9/25/2025, 8:22 AM

@Steve_Rhoden

Yes, we know it. I asked owner of Voukoder to apply the changes earlier than Oct 1st 2025 to make the plugin (Voukoder Pro) compatible in Vegas Pro 23, but so far we have been still waiting for it.

@diamond204 any news?

I loaded up the Vegas Pro 23 demo and followed my instructions. It seemed to work as far as installing as on my laptop it popped up with an error that the main Voukoder program was not installed (I don't use my laptop for editing just for testing so I had not installed it yet).

I installed Voukoder Classic and Vegas 23 loaded fine with no error. But....... the render screen is completely renovated and I do not see it as an option there. Is there a way to bring back the Legacy render screen?

RogerS wrote on 9/26/2025, 2:16 AM

You can show all render options, but there's no way to bring Voukoder back that I can figure out.

diamond204 wrote on 9/26/2025, 1:08 PM

My guess is that its 'in there' but it just does not display due to the new layout of the render window that removed display of plugins by third parties the way it used to.

I hope they fix this. As an alternative I could render audio as 5.1 PCM and then use the awesome Shutter Encoder to reencode the audio to Dolby Digital Plus or similar and get the job done.

Reyfox wrote on 9/26/2025, 2:32 PM

I don't think they are going to "fix" it. Voukoder is aware of the changes, and the plugin (Pro only) will be changed to work.
