Windows 11 users who are having issues with Vegas Start-up!

Steve_Rhoden wrote on 5/4/2023, 8:38 AM

For all users who are experiencing Vegas start up issues, the culprit is a recent Windows 11 update. Thus installing this new version: https://rdir.magix.net/?page=LXXNHP3P4WG3 should have your issues resolved.

That does not appear to be the cause as I am experiencing this with Windows 10. The patch should work but my download has another 7 hours to go.

The new version is for Vegas Pro 20, what about those of us with Vegas 19? Do we get a free upgrade? I am not paying another dime for software that runs like crap constantly. I have already started projects as of yesterday, May 3, 2023 that I can not access now because Vegas won't open...no Windows update between yesterday and today. FYI, this is on 2 computers same issue. Uninstalled and reinstalled Vegas 19, opened fine but of course can not open new project in old install, did update and back to not opening. This is not a Windows issue, it's a Vegas issue someplace.

@Chad-Smith VCS staff stated in other threads a patch to 19 is in the works.

Reinstalling won't do anything as all builds of 19 are apparently affected. You can set the system clock back a week or disable internet as workarounds.

Disabling Internet temporarily while launching VP19 is more preferred temporary solution rather than changing system clock, as we have been told.

Both solutions (turn back the clock and turn off internet) have some negative consequences. A solution for VP 19 is very near release.

Chad-Smith wrote on 5/4/2023, 9:52 AM

@RogerS I did find the VP19 Download, thank you for the FYI. We shouldn't have to hunt for this? Magix should just email us with a big fat apology and the link attached. Glad I have purchased Davinci Resolve. I have 2 projects to complete in VP19 then I will struggle with learning DR for all my future editing.

It's not just Windows 11. I'm on Windows 10 and had this problem this morning as well. Installing fresh and hoping that fixes the problem.

RogerS wrote on 5/4/2023, 10:57 AM

Just install the patched build over the existing one.

@Chad-Smith
Then all your problems will soon be solved - since DR runs completely error-free, and the training is very easy.
Only one question: Have you ever looked at how many pages the manual has?

Howard-Vigorita wrote on 5/4/2023, 11:22 AM

I can confirm... neither Vegas 19 build 648 nor Vegas 20 build 402 will load this morning with Internet access enabled on my 2 win10 machines as well as my 2 running win11. Turning off Internet access temporarily till the Vegas screen pops up fixes them all. I imagine this will only work till Vegas needs to call home during load for a license check. Vegas 19 update/download keeps failing so I haven't been able to try that.

edit: got em both and it's all good now

@walter-i. From memory VP19 never had a pdf manual. Have been using DVR of late. Interesting learning curve but so far very stable. 3000 odd page manual with no index. Good forum.

@diverG
It is true that there is no complete pdf manual for VP19 and 20.
However, there is one for VP18. For VP19 and VP20 there are supplements with the new features in these new versions:
