RE: Vegas effects causes black screen and greyed out time line on V - Pro
I'll take a wild guess and suggest that your media is from a GoPro camera (the file name starts with 'GX...') and is .MP4 (HEVC) - or H.265. I get the same results with HEVC GoPro video in Vegas Pro and Vegas Effects as you have. In Vegas Effects,

RE: [Solved] Video works on MS15, not MS17
I had the same problem opening GoPro GHnnnn.mp4 files on VMS 17. See my post at https://www.vegascreativesoftware.info/us/forum/unable-to-open-gopro-hero10-mp4-files-in-vms-17-platinum--135147/#ca843942 which I discovered too do not open. So I now

RE: Vegas Pro 21 Crashing on almost every AVC/HEVC render
@iEmby I totally support your suggestion of only importing AVC footage. My experience shows that importing HEVC is frought with disaster. However there are too many 'Old Myths' as you say that have nothing to do with Vegas today. @Richard-N That

RE: Preview Stutter and Crash when starting
Try the link Vkmast shared. It should still look clear as a DVD. For better preview performance with HEVC try right clicking on media and "create video proxy". Set your project frame rate to 29.97 and you can use the GoPro footage for regular or 2x

RE: [Solved] Unable to Open GoPro Hero10 mp4 files in VMS 17 Platinum
I discovered that only GoPro Hero 10 files that are encoded in H.264/AVC do not open in VMS 17. If I change the GoPro settings from H.264+HEVC to only HEVC, all files can be read by VMS. Corel VideoStudio and Davinci Resolve can open both types.

RE: Should upgrade from Pro 19 to latest? (tired of crashes) (+some vids)
Some GoPro are totally fine- I've worked with 5-7 files. Seems like there are issues with the latest generation. I'd wait for the next update or two two VP 21 as there are many media decoding fixes in the works based on the last update and it seems

RE: Vegas 21 Pro Crashes Every Few Minutes When Editing
Turning off the GPU in the 3 places it's used is really a last resort. Since VP 14 we've gotten GPU decoding, more GPU processing of timeline Fx and fixes to dynamic ram preview to make it work better as a preview buffer. Turning these off kills

[Solved] Selecting Render Format - Use HEVC if Source Files AVC?
I just purchased Vegas Pro 19, after historically using Vegas Movie Studio. With the new software, I'm trying to decide which format to use for my video renders. I've done some web searches to get basic education on the codec. A few questions: My

RE: Vloggers/Youtubers, what camera + capture method do you use for Vegas?
@KKS Hi. I have a sort of similar setup. I currently use a BlackMagic Decklink Mini 4K Recorder, with a Sony HDR AX-53 attached. Though, when I record, I utilize OBS with a custom setting for ProRes: It works well when I use it, though the recorded

RE: Vegas 21 (315) Lag when handling clips (Trimming and Moving)
What version were you using? You said you skipped 300 and 314- did you also skip 21.315? 22.93 is a refined version of 21.315 in my opinion. The old versions like 21.208 used so4compound decoder for HEVC (and benefited from Intel QSV decoding).

RE: Vegas 21 (315) Lag when handling clips (Trimming and Moving)
@joshua-noesser Well, it is a GoPro, which are notorious for their excessive compression schemes. Plus, add the fact that you are also recording at 5.3K, 60p (59.940), this just increases the problem. I have used GoPro's since the Hero 3 Black Plus

Please double-check that all the media was recorded the same way- MediaInfo can help you confirm this. Bit depth (8 vs 10), codec (AVC vs HEVC), resolution, framerate, can all make big differences in performance. Clip length shouldn't be an

RE: Hi, I am using Osmo 4k camcorder and unable to add MP4 File (.MP4)
The DJI Osmo Pocket 3 supports the video format, MP4 (H.264/HEVC). I suspect what the specs are saying is that you have a choice of recording MP4 (AVC) or MP4 (HEVC) - this used to be the case with 4K in GoPro cameras (now its only HEVC). Maybe

For an intermediate codec my recommendation is MagicYUV as it's lossless and works with a number of programs. https://www.magicyuv.com/ GoPro = Cineform? It's dated and I stopped using it.
