It has been reported before. Try a forum search for the error message " An error occurred while creating the media file" Don't know if it has been fixed yet; may be a work-around with batch render. Seems fairly rare.

The reason I asked about the So4 disabling is the text of the mentioned error message “an error occurred while creating the media file...”. It seems to me that Vegas is trying to do some thing with your footage and this may fail with the So4 dll. So

When I try "Project - Render as ..." I get: "An error occurred while creating the media file. An invalid argument was specified" Same with: "Make Movie - Advanced Options" However, if I use "Make Movie" and do not try Advanced Options it works
