@frmax This my own quote from the thread https://www.vegascreativesoftware.info/us/forum/feature-request-standardized-4k-test-project--116193/?page=3 where it was recently discussed ...

The reason I speculate above is because I experience the exact same freeze, in the Red Car test around the time since I’ve upgraded to Windows update 1903. I have to kill VP each time with Task Manager.

The freeze occurs when I press playback, play for a good while then pause, then freezes.

I decided to try to fix it yesterday evening. On my laptop which only exposes the Gtx 1070, (Intel is onboard the cpu but not available) it went away by changing from the latest Nvidia creators driver to the latest Gaming driver.

This driver change didn’t work on my new and old PC's. To fix it on them I simply switched HW Acc. to Intel.

The freeze doesn’t appear on playback of other media I tested so far, only the Red Car test.”

@BruceUSA @frmax results now updated.

Maybe just stay focused on benchmarking in this thread. If necessary start a new thread re: freezes etc.

I know there are a lot more Vegas users on this forum. Don't be shy, show us your system, how does its perform? I am really interested in seeing the Intel 18 cores @4.6ghz i9 9980XE know as (Tripleflip) are you still around? and the older 8 cores intel chip, 5960X, 9800X users. We need more users input data to better analyze what Vegas like best for hardware.

Indeed, well said @BruceUSA. Where is @bitman, @OldSmoke and all the others when you need a bit of testing done? Maybe on their holidays? Even so, I can’t see @OldSmoke leaving that newly built rig behind🤣

Patience! I am not on holiday yet, I am spending a lot of my free time lately old school reading a series of books (real page turners) in my garden with such nice weather here in Belgium... well maybe not so old school as I read on an e-reader !

@BruceUSA Very impressive playback indeed.

I'm just curious about something. Are you using J-V's “SampleProject 4K” to test?

This threads (J-V's) 4K test project has all of the tracks minimised, and I first noticed that your project is not. On page 2 of this thread where you circled 2 areas for playback FPS testing I see that the project you use is called “Sampleproject test”.

On the vimeo sample of playback I notice that your project & preview settings are changed from 3840 x 2160 to 1920 x 1080, and the tracks are full size. I mention this because if the Vimeo is this threads 4K test project I'm sure most users will test playback as is supplied without mods, i.e. Project & Preview at 3840 x 2160. The project properties are set by J-V.

The only mod I have made to J-V's original is to add in a Region 1, and thats what’s available for download.

This is what  J-V's “SampleProject 4K.veg” looks like on my laptop.

JN_. Some clarification here. You are seeing 3840x2160 to 1920x1080 is because I am recording the screen at 4K on my smart phone. I placed the 4K smart phone on a 4K time line and then render it out to 1080P for Vimeo. That is what you are seeing.

Now as for the benchmark. There is no modification of any kind. It is the original that came with VP16. Also, Rendering FHD template is exactly matched per instruction. As you have known that I am having problem with opening the JV file from downloading it. I have tried many attempts but encounter the same problem. So I used the original exactly the same one JV provided for download.

I am attach a screen shot of what I have download and have encounter missing files or corrupted file. Therefore unable to open the veggie.

@BruceUSA Very little of that makes sense to me. Maybe it does to others. All files including the zip + veg file are available at the download link at the very first post in this thread. The veg file is both inside the zip and also available as a single file download. But you have to use J-V's zip, its what everyone else is using.

One thing is clear, you'r not using J-V's Sampleproject 4K project.

In fairness to all other users, until you can get and use J-V's project 4K version I think it best to wait for your new test results. The existing ones may turn out to be the same, but who knows.

Maybe J-V can make available again his download to you, send him a PM.

If anyone else is having a problem downloading these files please do let me know.

JN. I absolutely want to use JV one. Unless you can email it to me as I have talked to you about. If not, I guess you can count out i don't have it any other ways.

@BruceUSA Can anyone else confirm ability to download J-V,s zip at the download location? thanks.

If so can you make it available temporarily for BruceUSA to download.

BruceUSA wrote on 7/22/2019, 9:30 AM

JN_. Yes I download JV zip file and extracted and got all the files. Upon right click on the veg file and it failed to open. I also tried to import the veg and its failed also. JV need to work with me to find a way for me to get his version. If not, I guess you can count me out. As you say it is only fair to others and I agree.

Another thought is this. What exactly JV has done to changed any to the original version of the benchmark? I only think he did is to provide a 4K up conversion of the original 1080P . Am I correct?

@BruceUSA If its corrupted as a result of downloading then try again, you have two machines to test on also.

Just a minute ago I extracted the veg file from the dropbox zip and used it aok in VP. Yes thats about it re: the conversion to 4K. This might not be sufficient as its my dropbox.

A friend of mine has VP, i’ll ask him much later when he’s finished work, to do a test download and run it.

In the meantime maybe someone else can confirm they can, have, successfully downloaded the zip and ran the project, from my link, not J-V's. I say this because maybe everyone so far is using the zip from the original 1st. djownload link supplied by J-V.

@Howard-Vigorita Was one of the later testers, maybe if he can confirm which link he used.

@Former user I downloaded from the link at the beginning of this thread yesterday afternoon. Fwiw, I did have a crash running the Intel QSV render on my 9900k that caused Vegas to refuse loading again with a "you are not licensed" error, but having experienced this before, I knew what to do. Also noticed I was running v1803 of Win10 and updated to v1903 right before reinstalling Vegas. So all my numbers on the 9900k are with a fresh Win10 update and Vegas install. My Xeon already had 1903 on it and went without incident.
