Feature request: Standardized 4k test project.

@Grazie Not really, look at my playback rates above for i9 9900K. A way to get a better idea is if theres a bit of uptake on this testing, then you can compare with several different machines.

The playback rate is a bit of a guesstimate really. Maybe better to mark off a specific region in the project and report that region playback rate only? If J-V wants to recommend a particular region, start time, finish time I can mark up accordingly, ideally as long as possible but a section that doesn’t vary much in playback fps.

Anyway, post the rest of the data points (total of 11) when your done.

@Grazie For example if I mark as region Start 13s;01f and region End 19s;16f then I get a minimum of 8fps and max of 13fps within this region playing in a loop. Make sure to leave "Adjust size and quality for optimal playback" un-checked.

@j-v I sent a PM.

@Former user - Erm . . ? Where's the "Benchmarking" Thread?

Former user wrote on 7/19/2019, 8:30 AM

@Grazie J-V's ... Alternate download link ... https://www.vegascreativesoftware.info/us/proxy/f5df4c408b36cf42b3c7/?link=https%3A//www.dropbox.com/sh/we0paonvz9fmdce/AABTA_DgOiRFQ67kaYeoBOAra%3Fdl%3D0

Theres a user data entry form and suggested render template. Just post a screenshot of your filled out form and i’ll update the spreadsheet at the Benchmarking thread... https://www.vegascreativesoftware.info/us/forum/benchmarking--116285/

In the future @Dr Zen may take this all over and host, so this may be temporary here.

@Grazie

@Former user Ah, yes, righto:

@Grazie Thanks, i’ll update shortly @Kinvermark was wondering if we should standardise on either FHD or 4K UHD?

I was thinking to just allow users to render to one or the other or both? What do you think?

Former user wrote on 7/19/2019, 9:26 AM

@Grazie Would you mind reposting your results in the Benchmarking thread?

J-V is ok with adding a region, region 1 that I mentioned earlier, maybe just use it to give playback feedback.

Ill update the zip, project file shortly.

Former user wrote on 7/19/2019, 9:51 AM

@Grazie @Kinvermark Thanks Grazie. I’ve gone ahead and updated the project file with a region 1, use only for playback fps feedback, you can change your result if you wish, or not. See the info at the bottom of the spreadsheet screenshot.

I've also updated the spreadsheet to allow for either FHD or UHD entries, the template suggested is posted in the Benchmarking thread and at upload link location. So now 2 templates. Obviously users can use one or the other or both, whatever. I'm surprised that @BruceUSA hasn’t yet looked for an 8K template to test his rig🤣.

@Former user - I’m going to wait to see who else joins in.

Thanks to you and @Kinvermark for pulling this together.

JN. Can't try 8K footage on Vegas, not yet. Its says not supported. Maybe VP17? . Any way, I get full frame rate in Davinci Resolve 8K weapon footage running smooth, no problem.

@BruceUSA Only joking about 8K😂. Thanks for contributing.

Maybe it’ll help users contemplating upgrading. A very common query is what CPU, GPU etc is suitable for using with VP.

Wow, been busy beavers since I was here last. I'll download @Former user benchmark and give it a spin.

@Howard-Vigorita Yes, busy bees, thanks for your extensive contribution, its building to a nice resource.
