URGENT - VEGAS PRO OPENING PROBLEM

Comments

Sorry for my English... I speak French...

I have no problem with 18, 19 and 20 build 370

I have a problem with Vegas Pro Edit 20 versions 20.0.0.403 and 20.0.0.411

At launch, Vegas opens and then closes a few seconds later.

In the event viewer: Exception code: 0xc0000409

I did not find a solution that works in the forum

Material : -Lenovo Legion 7 - AMD Ryzen 9 5900HX - 32 GB Ram - Nvidia GeForce RTX 3060 Laptop GPU Driver 522.30 (there is a problem with newer drivers, effect preview does not work) I tested the 536.40 version of the Nvidia driver, without success.

Windows 11 22H2

Tried changing system date, turning off WiFi without success

RogerS wrote on 7/3/2023, 5:28 AM

Try updating your Radeon Graphics drivers, too:

System date and wifi have nothing to do with VP 20.403 and 20.411.

JeanG wrote on 7/3/2023, 7:27 AM

Thank you for the answer. I updated the AMD drivers, unfortunately that didn't solve the problem.

I downloaded again Vegas Pro 19 (651) and now it is opening!!! Many thanks I do not have to disconnect the internet with this download!

lunarhahaepic wrote on 7/23/2023, 12:01 PM

Several users are reporting problems opening Vegas Pro. Not just version 20.

Possibly a recent Windows Update is causing the problem. Until it's resolved the following work around has been posted by several users.

Disconnect from internet > Open project > Reconnect to internet.

Edit: VEGAS Pro 20 build 403 solves this issue. See Here.

wait, do I need to upgrade to Pro 20 to be able to fix it?

No also Version 19 got an upgate that you can download following this link :https://www.vegascreativesoftware.info/us/forum/patch-vegas-pro-19-build-651--140801/

@JeanG Did you try a reset of Vegas? Here's how to do it: https://www.vegascreativesoftware.info/us/forum/faq-how-can-i-reset-vegas-pro-to-default-settings--104646/

It's possible to use the current NVIDIA laptop driver if you make this change in NVIDIA Control Panel. I do it with my laptop.

JeanG wrote on 7/29/2023, 7:46 AM

Thank you RogerS

The driver setup solves the problem with Vegas 19, so I can use the latest version of the driver.

However, I still can't use Vegas 20. It opens and closes after a few seconds. It starts displaying windows and it closes. During the installation I was able to activate it correctly, but I could never launch it.

Lenovo Legion, AMD Ryzen 9 5900HX. Windows 11 Pro 22H2 22621.2070.

Thank you in advance for your help.

@JeanG
Which buildnumber of VPro 20 did you try?
With the latest (411) a start problem was solved.

Hello j-v,

I installed version 20.0.0.411, so the latest. I already had the problem with version 20.0.0.403.

Version 19.0.0.651 works fine on this computer.

RogerS wrote on 7/30/2023, 1:31 AM

How far does VP 20 get before it closes? What's the last message you see (any clues here?)

Syauqi wrote on 7/31/2023, 2:11 AM

Since the first time the problem arose, I just turned my wifi off when I'm editing.

1-2 weeks ago, I saw the new posts so I decided to just update it, it works, sure. I can finally open vegas without turning off my wifi, but now I can't even view the video preview at the lowest setting, its very frame-y and I have to let it play multiple times before I can view it without the frame-y issues. Not only that, I never had any crashes in the past year-year and a half that I used vegas, after the update, the vegas crash say at least 5 times everytime I edit. (The type where there's a white pop up asking you whether you want to terminate it and then another one asking if you want to send information)

But then there's a pop up on the screen when I open vegas, asking whether i want to update it, so i thought maybe that will fix it. After it finished updating, I can't even edit given that it either doesn't load up properly (the videos just turn green in the project media and a black screen in the video preview) OR it loads up properly but when i went to double tap on the video to add to my project, the whole vegas freezes. Even after 2 hours its still there, not allowing me to quit the app. I have to shut down my pc just for it to close.

I don't even know how to get back to the version of the app pre-update cause at least then, I would be able to edit even if I have to turn off my wifi

RogerS wrote on 7/31/2023, 2:16 AM

Check the settings in preferences/ file io. They may have gotten reset? See if legacy HEVC is checked. Try unchecking it if it's HEVC media.

For more specific advice share what the media is. https://www.vegascreativesoftware.info/us/forum/faq-how-to-post-mediainfo-and-vegas-pro-file-properties--104561/

Syauqi wrote on 7/31/2023, 3:39 AM

I unchecked the hevc legacy thing. Its still frame-y even on the lowest setting and the app still has a lag time everytime I do an action, so if i cut, it will cut but i have to wait for a 1-2 secs for it to load before I can do another action. And then sometimes its never loads and then it crashes. Still do, both the one where it freezes and the one where it I have an option to terminate it.

I use alot of video files during an edit, the main ones should have the same settings?/Format? idk as this :

Thanks for sharing that information.

"But then there's a pop up on the screen when I open vegas, asking whether i want to update it,"

This suggests to me you are not on the current version? Try downloading build 411 from here.

If there are no longer issues with VEGAS opening I'd suggest making a new post about performance issues.

A quick response is this is AVC, so if most of your media is like that, HEVC settings will not affect it at all. A shorter keyframe interval should improve performance. Try the same as your framerate (keyint=60). Are these screencaptures? If so we might be able to review your capture settings.

Finally at 500MB/s you need SATA SSDs or better, m.2 drives to be able to transfer data quickly enough. This is a high data rate for an HD video.

Syauqi wrote on 7/31/2023, 5:19 AM

I have updated it even before i uploaded my first post. Already deleted it and reinstalled using the link just to make sure.

By keyframe interval, do you mean when recording? Ill do that when I record next time.

I forgot what ssd im using but I think its good enough? I'll upgrade later if not. The only reason why I haven't bothered to is because everything has been going smoothly since i got the pc and since I started editing.

It only came about when I downloaded the updated vegas pro after the issues that everyone faced. Again, for a year and a half, even when I had tons of video recordings in 1 project, it went very smoothly, the worst I had to do was lower the quality from best full to best quarter.

RogerS wrote on 7/31/2023, 7:55 AM

Just look at help/about and it tells the version number. It's on the start-up screen as well.

For keyframe interval, yes, that's while recording (or remuxing if recording to one format and then outputting another for editing).

I can't say what else is different- VEGAS may have reset your customizations when it updated. You can try legacy AVC in file io if you had it checked in the past. If you have an Intel CPU with iGPU make sure it's selected in file io for decoding (and keep legacy AVC decoder unchecked).

For SSD you can watch it in task manager/performance when editing. There are other HDD speed tests like CrystalDisk that can let you know the maximum transfer speed you can likely get.

Syauqi wrote on 7/31/2023, 8:46 AM

Thanks man, I still don't know what's happening or what happened because suddenly its working great.

I literally added more videos than ever to the project to test it out and best (full) works perfectly. The only thing I did was : , it sorted of worked but some media was missing so I changed the name from having _old to the default again. The app loaded the videos again and somehow it works perfectly now. I'm genuinely confused since I started new projects with the same videos and it was still lagging, somehow now after changing the name and renaming it back to the default, it works perfectly....

Hello support, Sorry for my English (thanks Google translate).

I have a problem with Vegas Pro 20 and 21.

I was able to activate the versions. After installing, the program starts and closes a few seconds later.

I completely reinstalled the computer once with Windows 11 22H2 and once with Windows 11 23H2. Without other software.

I still have the same problem. Lenovo Legion 7 AMD Ryzen 9 5900HX Nvidia RTX 3060 system.

I tried disabling AMD graphics card, replacing Nvidia drivers with new or old ones.

I have no problems with Vegas Pro 19.

Thank you in advance for your help.

I'm used to Vegas, which I like, but without a solution I'm considering switching to another product.

Hello support ...

@JeanG  ... Please be aware that this forum is a user (peer-to-peer) forum and is not an avenue to MAGIX Support.

The post that you have commented on relates to a specific problem relating to VP19 and VP20 which was addressed by the Vegas team within days, so if you have VP19 build 651 and VP20 build 411, you have the last builds which addressed that problem and so no longer suffer from the problem raised by this post's OP. Vegas Pro 21 does not and never did have this problem, so your issue re Vegas Pro 21 must be unrelated to the topic of this post.
