Vegas pro 16 and 20 not usable

GAMING_KNIBBSE wrote on 12/14/2022, 3:53 PM

I bought vegas pro 20 because i thought that i might need to upgrade as vegas 16 has become really slow and keeps crashing amd there was no update for this program, so i bought vegas pro 20 the newest one, and ''i still have the same problem'', when editing, The preview lags and i can't edit like that, the preview is at the lowest blurry in draft and i have also tried preview half, and i shouldn't need to lower the preview as i need it to see clearly what i am doing/editing, at the lowest settings for the preview it still lags and i can't edit, also when i stop playing/previewing when editing, vegas goes white and then says its stop responding, and the program never comes back, i have manually force quit meaning i click on the x to close vegas, it then comes up with a box saying vegas has stopped, i click ok on the box and vegas closes, i also have to save my projects every 1 min because i am scared i will lose my projects i am working on becuase vegas has become the worsed editing software there is, never had a problem with cheap editing softwares before like Wondershare i am thinking about moving to adobe, i dont want to because that means i will have to learn a whole new way of editing in a different interface but magix!, your pushing me over the edge, I went from vegas pro 16 skipped 17,18,19, and went to vegas pro 20, i thought you would have fixed this issue by now, many youtubers have made videos of your software that keeps crashing all the time, its embarrassing for your company. please fix this or i am leaving your service/product forever!

This is a user's forum, so threatening to leave the service does not mean anything to us. First, sit back, relax and I am sure others will be willing to help. I assume by your first sentence that V16 worked fine at one time. Then became worse. Since nothing changed in V16, you have to assume that something changed on your computer. Either a Windows update other software that could be affecting the computer performance. Or have you changed your source material (maybe using a different capture software or higher resolution video). Either way, we can only help if you provide more information rather than frustration.

Try to use in your Projectproperties the same pixel format for the videopart ( 8 bit) from your sources in stead of your choice (32 bit)

- If it shows up in the Windows Task manager/Display adapters it should be visible and used at Options/Preferences/File I/O of Vegas Pro.
- If it don't show up there you have to allow the use in the BIOS of your computer and reset Vegas to its default installation by following exactly this instruction: https://www.vegascreativesoftware.info/us/forum/faq-how-can-i-reset-vegas-pro-to-default-settings--104646/

Why do i need to activate my CPUGPU if my main GPU is working

RogerS wrote on 2/10/2023, 10:24 PM

The iGPU is better at decoding files and is less likely to crash Vegas.

Custom PC (2022) Intel i5-13600K with UHD 770 iGPU with 31.0.101.4091 driver, MSI z690 Tomahawk motherboard, 64GB Corsair DDR5 5200 ram, NVIDIA 2080 Super (8GB) with latest studio driver, 2TB Hynix P41 SSD, Windows 11 Pro 64 bit

That's the Magix Update service. I have the impression it's passe. Removing it should help if you see it listed in Windows Apps. You could also try working offline when using Vegas... though you'll probably need to fire Vegas up online every once in a while for license checks.

Your system looks like the specs are pretty capable. Using your igpu always helps, if only because 2 heads are better than 1. Just make sure your Intel display drivers are up to date. In vp16 the igpu usage is controlled by Intel Qsv settings in General Prefs. In vp20, I think the I/O prefs override for decoding. Just make sure your Intel Display Drivers are installed and up to date. See: this other thread.
