VEGAS Pro 17 Update 3 (Build 387) - General Discussion

Comments

marvin-bush wrote on 12/16/2019, 11:58 PM

Upgraded Vegas Pro 17 Edit today when I got the in-app notification that an update was available. I tried to import some files from my NX-80 from my camera to see if that was working now, but it didn't. I then tried to synchronize audio to align tracks and Vegas crashed and now will not restart and I get a message saying that Vegas Pro has stopped running. I've never had an update to fail me like this. I want to download the update and install again but I get an unsecure warning when I try to access the downloads. I hope the links are fixed soon and re-installing solves my problems. I knew better but took a chance because all the other updates had installed smoothly without any problems.
Update: Once the download links were working properly for me, I was able to download and install the 387 update again after uninstalling VP17 version 387. It appeared that all was well until I closed the program and tried to restart it. I got the same message as before saying that Vegas Pro has stopped running. I uninstalled version 387 and downloaded and installed the version 353 update and now I think I'm back to where I was with VP17, version 353 up and running.

If anyone can point me toward a fix for a problem such as mine, it will be greatly appreciated.

While the https download links are not working, http links currently are. Just drop the "s" from the download links. I don't know if there are security implications to this, so use at your own risk:

Just updated mine. Crashed after using mesh warp lol

@alifftudm95 It is not easy to find the crash report without a useful comment.

There is still the bug in the new whitebalance fx tool. (I hope every update that it gets fixed)

If you do your settings in the whitebalance dialog everything is fine until you save and load your project again. Then unfortunately the amount setting switched to another value which makes the whitebalance tool unusable!!

before save

after saving the project and loaded it again.

😱

Confirm, the bug will be fixed in next update.

Im still forced to use Vegas 16. I've been in contact with @MAGIXheman who confirmed about a month ago there is currently a crash/bug with the hevc plugin they are still working to address/fix.(also high page file usage) I think that may be the only thing/bug preventing me moving forward to 17 and at that I still have to use Intel QSV for my file-io. using NVME with large projects my monitor will literally black out and the GPU driver crashes.

7770k 16GB RAM GTX 1080. zero issues with vegas 16.

Vegas post is not compatible with Boris continuum, and is still not fixed in the new update of Vegas post (build 387), nor in the new updated versions of Vegas image and Vegas effects.

I have been chasing the Vegas team, Boris team and FX hitfilm team for the inability to work together for half a year now. They confirmed the issue, and they are trying to solved it. I was hoping for a fix with these new updates, but nope.

Post is a motion graphics and effects app called Vegas Effects that is similar to Adobe After Effects (better in some ways, you'd have to augment AE with thousands of dollars worth of plugins to do what VE does out of the box), and is the same as Hitfilm Pro (developed by the same company), but it directly works with Vegas so no rendering is required to send video into VE, add effects to it, then send it back into VP to be further edited and rendered. It also comes with an image editing app called Vegas Image.

@fr0sty & @bitman - WIll I be creating a Battlefield for "FX Supremacy" on MY PC, simultaneously allowing the engineers to use my machine to dog-fight it out between the SFX Companys?

Can I download the improvements to VP without POST, and the rest, coming along?

fr0sty wrote on 12/17/2019, 4:06 PM

Yes, you only get post's updates if you download the updates to Vegas Effects and Vegas image, the Vegas Pro update stands on its own separate from the others.

It is not quite Hitfilm Pro, in that, at the very least, it doesn't include Mocha Hitfilm,

(I don't know why not). I am not sure about the "no rendering" idea either.

Hitfilm opens as a complete program, it's not like an effect. Similar to how Mocha AE works in After Effects, you are importing and exporting. If I am wrong about that,l I will stand corrected, and gladly so. As for HItfilm, you don't render going out but coming back, yes. It comes back as a take, I had Effects when it first released, just to try it out, (it was buggy at first, so back out) and it did not work in the way described, and it takes a fair amount of time to open. I since obtained Hitfilm Pro, same thing. Again, if Vegas has this "no render" idea actualized, I would love to hear back about that.

alexander-nNevis wrote on 12/18/2019, 9:28 AM

I wanted, as it was before, just to work in the program, and not to do the work of "MAGIX" for my own money! But it seems Microsoft, MAGIX and nVIDIA decided to compete, who will create the most buggy soft.

Thanks for the Christmas gift.

@alexander-nNevis What is the issue that you are experiencing? Maybe this forum can help.

Thank You
Forgive my outburst.
The last program that worked flawlessly for me was MAGIX Video Pro X7.
Since then, every new release of "Video Pro" or "Vegas" has become more problematic.
It's not only MAGIX's fault, nVIDIA can't create a full-featured driver for its latest RTX graphics cards.
Microsoft in Windows 10, forcibly replaces a good video driver from nVIDIA to its own,
not working correctly with Vegas.
Previous 16th version of Vegas I bought but never even installed it after reading the reviews in the forum.
Yesterday I finally decided to install Vegas Pro 17 Suite on a clean Windows 10 (1909) system.
Surprisingly, there are no crashes or errors yet, except for Boris plugins,
which I can't even download.
I wrote to Boris support and hope for their help.

As I know, before "Vegas" had problems with the processing of 4K 60P video
from the cameras "Panasonic GH-5",
but now I do not see the problem, this is good news for me.

You see, Adobe has this thing called Dynamic Link between Premiere Pro & After Effects. I don't see this with VEGAS Effects.

whatever edit I do in VP, doesnt shown up in VE. Which is pain for the editor, especially if you do slow motion in VP and Motion Tracking in VE.

Idk why, VE dont have 3D tracking from Mocha like the newest hitfilmpro.

You can have it as an "add on" I believe, for $50. Or, someone mentioned Humble Bundle deal which includes both.

@alexander-nNevis All I know is that the VEGAS developers are working hard to make the program better. Vegas came from far. If you see where VEGAS came from in version 14 untill know is a world of difference in perfomance, stability and functionality. I hope that XAVC playback performance will be better soon though. :-)

@bernd-k (untaggable because there are too many Bernds). If you get in-application prompts about updating, then accept them and install that way. If not then download the 3 installers linked at the bottom of the VP17 build 387 news post and run those. I'm not sure if you have to do it in a particular order but I would run the Pro/POST installer first. If those downloads fail then get them from my comment here. I've been told that the "Pro" and "POST" installers are actually identical, apart from the filename, so it doesn't matter if you have a POST licence and install from a Pro installer.

I found a small bug :)

So if your name file don't have an extension in render window, and then open "browse", file has extension from file name. Of course it get's new extension (right one) after file is rendered (funny_name.funny_name.mp4).

fr0sty wrote on 12/19/2019, 10:49 PM

The update just released for it fixes that. Moving forward, it will check for updates on future versions.
