Vegas Pro 21 - crashing when opening up Video Event FX

Comments

Another workaround could be to use the 'Video FX' window and drag the FX to the event.

That does work, but if you then delete the FX, revealing the default Event Pan/Crop earlier in the chain, it still crashes. So it's a workaround but it's not very robust.

Thanks, did not see this as a problem. But with that setting

I also can avoid the crashes and get a quite good GPU usage on UHDp30 XAVC-S footage

... and these are the loads when playing UHDp50 HEVC 10bit 4.2.0 footage with the above settings:

I didn't say the workaround is bad—well done, Nick, for devising such a solution. Of course, the ideal solution would be to address the issue directly.

@gabgilson I have the same graphics card as you. I also installed today the latest driver 24.5.1 and still no issues opening Video Event FX and using Pan/Crop or any plugin that I have.

I am curious does the crash happen when just opening it, or doing any adjustments within it?

@Reyfox

What kind of footage are you using? This problem strongly depends on that type.

Reyfox wrote on 5/16/2024, 8:56 AM

I am using Panasonic video from a G9.

Would you like me to try different clips? Point me to a link and I'll give it a shot.

I don`t think you will get this crash with that 4.2.2 footage.

Just tested with b314 and only get the crash with avc hd media amd 6900xt doing the decoding. Updated amd driver from 24.3.1 to latest 24.5.1 and no change. However no crash with 4k avc media or with Intel gpu or igpu decoding.

I'm having the same problem. When you click on pan/crop or FX, the program simply goes down.
I have AMD Ryzen 9 3950X 16-Core Processor 3.49 GHz with 32 GB Ram and an AMD Radeon VII with 16 GB
