Please make the points on screen more visible, this is ridiculous,

I've highlighted in red where they are but without moving the controls in the FX window it's impossible to find them, even just making them pink or green would help.

Even zoomed in in a photo editor they're hard to see 😒😒😒

Grazie wrote on 1/23/2022, 11:33 AM

@Former user - Yes. There are other optical assists that need “attention”. I’ve been hoping that others would “shine a light” on these.

Former user wrote on 1/23/2022, 11:42 AM

@Grazie Yep i didn't want to mention it in that comment as it's been mentioned before but..

There's corner points on the preview screen, they're also pale grey & tiny too, trying to grab those i often end up grabbing the floating/docked preview window instead, this would come into the realm of being able to zoom & out tho. 👍

I wonder if the color of all those points could be user defined via Options/Preferences/Display (tab)? It would need another field in addition to the current Track Colors and Envelope Colors. The thing is that even if the current default were changed to, say, yellow, problems would be encountered if using a shot or graphic with a dominant yellow color. The same goes for any other color - so having a choice via the Display tab would be most useful.

@Dexcon Yep, i was wondering if they all used the same base 'font' symbol, image file or whatever it's called. Wherever it is in the system, does it have a size & colour decided for it, That's partly why i mentioned pink, that's a colour that can easily stand out, but yeah a choice would be nice, I was also wondering why does it look like it's partly transparent, it's blending into the branches, is someone taking the piss making it less visible? 🤷‍♂️🥴😂

I would like titles to be quantized to frames upon import (for subtitles, etc.) if the project is set to quantize to frames. I'd also like the subtitles from text file to default to the project folder or at least the last used path and by default to see srt, csv or txt files so we don't have to manually select it. It takes too many steps to work.

Hello everyone! I love Vegas!
I want to suggest a feature. People sent me here.

Here is the idea:
It would be great if we could drag and drop audio samples from Vegas Hub directly onto the timeline (just specify in advance the folder where the project is located, where to automatically save the downloaded files).

Thanks! I hope this information gets to the developers!

Have a check mark or other indication put on the thumb nail in the project media when it is being used on the timeline.

Add check marks to used media in Project Media tab. A green check mark would make the used clips highly visible at a glance.

RedRob-CandlelightProdctns wrote on 2/17/2022, 4:25 PM

Background: Vegas has features to auto-build proxies for media based on their resolution. Vegas also has the ability to manually create proxy files by selecting media in Project Media, and in the right-mouse context menu, selecting "Create Video Proxy".

Problem: There's no way within Vegas to see if a Project Media has a proxy file built for it yet!

Enhancement Request: Either

  1. Include proxy files in the result set in Project Media -- the list of files presented in Project Media (along with their attributes). Only do this for proxy files that Vegas thinks are valid proxy files, and will use when in Preview/Draft mode

    OR

  2. Add a column in the Project Media window called "Has Proxy? (Y/N)"

Hi all

on large projects, especially on multicam editing, I often get confused about what events are actually muted, as the only visual clue is a more or less perceivable change in the event / track color hue , which additionally you only really notice when it's next to the full color of an unmuted event. Only when clicking on the event do you see it's actually greyed.

As a long time Cubas user, I really miss some of the things you see in the event displaying of Cubase. Muted events, for example, are completey greyed out.Just grey, no color. Easy to spot.

Another thing is the track display. It's been botherting me for a long time that I can't clearly distinguish audio from video tracks, especially when thay are not expanded to a certain width. The tiny note symbol is a bit too discrete.

It would also be nice if the whole track control bit on the left was in color, not just the small bit with the track number.

Another thing I found cumbersome in V19 is that when an event is under a certain zoom level, it gets really hard to "grab" it without the trim arrows popping up to expand or reduce it. You really have to search for the sweet spot to catch the event and move it. I didn't see that in older versions.

Also, can we please have the old colored icons back?

Thanks!

I have what I believe to be a fairly modest feature request. In the "Event/Pan/Crop area, the little arrows at the bottom...the ones that take you to 1st key frame, next key frame, last key frame, etc....are very tiny. Even with my glasses on, which I don't normally need. It seems the little diamonds with the arrows could be made larger and not take up more screen real estate, as they could still be contained in the space currently allotted to them. Though I wouldn't mind if that space were made a bit larger as well, to allow for bigger arrows.

Additionally, if those arrows were put in the bottom center of the screen, instead of all the way to the left, it would mean less "mousing around." Am I the only one thinking along those lines?

Thank you for your consideration.

In V18 and previous versions, the Media Take info, and FX/Pan icons were black text on a white background and easily readable. However, VP19's Media and FX/PAN inherit that track's color, making them difficult to read. Turning on Event Head will partially compensate for V19's change, but that's not a great solution for laptops with limited screen sizes. VP18 is laptop-friendly, while - for me - I only use VP19 on my desktop when I know I won't be using my laptop.

Improve Smart Bins interface

Allow a user to directly access smart bins by clicking on it, selecting "create new smart bin" and then being offered a search interface to select one or more parameters to use to filter the media. It's more intuitive than accessing this through search.

Enable Persistent Tagging of Subclips

Subclips can be tagged but without any notice to the user they are deleted when Vegas is closed and not stored in the .veg, unlike regular tags. That really limits their usefulness.

Improve Search attributes for project media

Also suggest adding a media type of subclip or parent clip so users can search for just one or the other without having to sort for subclips by adding a search for "subclip" in the file name tab.

I also don't understand how color depth is calculated. My Sony XAVC-S is 12. IPhone HEVC is 15, Braw is 32, Slog3 HEVC is 15, Sony AVC 10bit 4:2:2 is 20. Could these be made more user friendly like 10-bit and 4:2:0, etc.?

An option in the Preview Window that allows you to compare images side by side, similar to the Enter Expanded Edit Mode option that already exists in the Edit/Select Menu.

The difference is that in this new option the preview will not be static as in the Enter Expanded Edit Mode option. In this new option, it will be possible to choose the frame of reference on one side and on the other side will be the view of the timeline in real time.

This option will be very useful, for example, in the treatment of colors when using a reference image and also when using the Color Match effect, in addition to other benefits.

Below is a video showing how this option is useful when using the Color Match option in Adobe Premiere.

jetdv wrote on 3/5/2022, 8:41 AM

@joelsonforte.br, You can already do that. Go to the reference frame and take a snapshot to the clipboard. Then on the "split screen" button dropdown, choose "Clipboard" and turn on the split screen view.

joelsonforte.br wrote on 3/5/2022, 9:03 AM

@jetdv, I've always done it this way, the problem is that it is not possible to have a complete view of the reference frame and of the frame in which the adjustments will be made and this is often necessary for better productivity. Viewing full frames side by side in some cases helps to get more accurate results.

AVID-STYLE timeline scrolling.

When playing the timeline, keep the cursor centered onscreen rather than scrolling off to the right. Why has this feature option never been implemented? It's been part of AVID since forever. Seems mind-numbingly obvious to me this is the easiest way to edit.

AVID-STYLE scrolling timeline with centered cursor.

Give us the option to let the timeline scroll AROUND the cursor, rather than the cursor moving left-to-right and eventually off the screen or starting up the next panel of screen. Seriously, what a time suckage, having to constantly monitor a moving cursor. The Avid has had this for 30 years.

Would like to be able to save Pan / Zoom keyframe templates. I know there's plugins / fx that could do this, but I'd like to have it included in Vegas' native crop screen. Can currently save a template for crop settings but not for keyframes / motion

joelsonforte.br wrote on 3/11/2022, 9:52 AM

If possible, enable the Sync Cursor to Media Timeline option too in the Media FX window.

Currently, if keyframes are added to the effects of the Media FX window, it is not possible to see what is being done in the Preview window, nor to know the correspondence of the cursor in the Media event in the Timeline.
