Automation Recording for OFX keyframes (as well as Pan/Crop and Track Motion).

In fact, as early as Sony Vegas era, this feature has been implemented on DXT plug-ins.
If you don't know what this is, see:

This feature has even been retained in the latest edition of the help manual (see this post), but without any improvements or upgrades, it still does NOT support OFX keyframes.
Think about it, if we can add all the keyframes like this, some complicated things will be so easy, and you may be able to get rid of difficult Bezier curve completely.
Of course, I'm not saying that the Bezier curve is bad, if the Bezier curve can support Pan/Crop and Track Motion, I would be very happy.

Hello, as someone who spends 80% of the time doing simple masks, the latest update isn't quite there yet for me so I still have to manually create and adjust masks for every frame. I think the first 2-3 features will help raise productivity, maybe instead of an update, some kind souls can offer solutions for me:

1. Event Pan/Crop window - Zoom the area where the mouse is instead of some fixed area in the middle.

2a. For the preview window on the upper right corner, it is nice I can zoom in, but I have much frustration as I don't know how to operate correctly, I almost never zoom into the area I wanted, can't just do it as per where my mouse hovers?

2b. When I'm editing multitrack and want to sync tracks, I will zoom in to check the small details of a track to see if the time and sound is right (eg. a crowd). So can I just have a button that keeps the zoom % to a specific track? Very time wasting zooming in and out for different tracks (AND the zoom function is frustrating)

3. This is subscription based version - I'm rather disappointed in the limited voice options for the langauge and mood I can choose for text to speech compared to what Azure has, as there was no preview before I dived in, can we have more voice and mood options for other non-English language that can be used in Vegas Pro?

Thank you.

Please bring back option to reset any dialog box to its default value. For example, being able to right click on any dialog box in Pan/Crop window and reset the value for position, size, etc.

What would help me is if the options for text and title overlay were updated. The current tools don't feel intuitive and it's difficult to get good results quickly. Some good and modern templates would also help.

I also have the problem that I can't use added fonts (because I have to use them as part of corporate design guidelines). The fonts are not loaded in Vegas Pro.

Every editor now has the AI reframe option, but not yet Vegas, if you add that to VP22 it will be a game changer.

This is a demonstration that took all of 5minutes to create, running scene detect + reframing widescreen to portrait, and every key frame is created by the AI reframer without manual intervention. NLE reframers work much better than similar stuff seen on webcams and don't typically have that synthetic annoying jerky motion. At 3:03 you can see an automated keyframing that I would have normally re-key'd but even left as it is, you could maybe call it artistic choice.

VP22 with new 32bit float render engine(default) working perfectly + AI reframer as one of the new selling features would be great.

OBS released a new build that allows adding custom markers into the videos itself, being able to import these into Vegas with the clip would be a huge help when editing longer style videos like stream VOD's that easily hit 6+ hours in length. So far, it looks like the only NLE out there that automatically utilizes these markers is Resolve. If we could get similar utility in Vegas it would again be a huge assist to those of us that edit down VOD's.

I wish I could designate my own default LUT folder. I want to be able to click through, preview and other LUT's besides just the default ones provided by Vegas. Using and previewing other LUTs is far too cumbersome currently

Well if you are using the Input LUT via the Color Grading panel, then you could always customize the default .cube directory.

e.g. on my PC:

C:\Program Files\VEGAS\VEGAS Pro 21.0\OFX Video Plug-Ins\Vfx1.ofx.bundle\Contents\Resources\AutoLooks\

I have moved out the LUTs that I would never use, and added support for my specific cameras, for a nice clean dropdown.

Alternatively I think the LUT Filter Video FX defaults to the last picked location.

@Gastor I think that's a great request. I'd like to be able to pick dedicated LUT folders and select/deselect ones like in the color grading panel and in the video Fx LUT filter folder (where we could preview all at once?)

Maybe with an interface like the VST one for selecting folders and LUTs.

Thanks for this. When I add LUTs to this folder, they still do not appear as options under the Input LUT section, Camera LUT tab. While I assume the answer would be similar, I'd also ideally want these to show up in the Look LUT section on the right of the color grading menu, as I like the color space LUTs in the Camera LUT section, but I have stylistic LUTS i prefer to use in addition to those in the Look LUT section.

Besides, while this work around didn't work, if it works for you, it's still not the ideal way this should be handled. Vegas, Acid Pro, Sound Forge have all had the ability to designate folders for different features in the preferences menu. We should have similar with LUTS when you consider how often they are used, made, sold, traded by others. I assumed it would be easier to implement than the VST3 support was.

@Gastor Did you pick the right folder for the version of VEGAS you are using (20, 21, etc.) and restart VEGAS? I tried it here with two versions and it worked though I agree it's not a replacement for proper customization.

ChrisD wrote on 7/15/2024, 8:23 PM

@Gastor Try using the search function in File Explorer - *.cube. It might get you in right neighbourhood.

I know it is not ideal, or even if it would survive an upgrade. Yes, proper customization would be nice to have, but personally I have much larger issues with the CGP that I would like to see fixed first. 😐

Just wanted to thank you both - i tried it again and it worked! I don't know how to get it into the Look LUT area on the right side of the color grading panel, but i did get them to show up as part of the Camera LUT under the Input LUT area. Progress!

Thanks again to both of you! @ChrisD@RogerS

When Magix finally decides to implement a new Titles & Text to replace what we have now, a really nice feature to have included is the fonts automatically preview as you look at them in your list of fonts. Currently in Vegas Pro 21, I find it faster to open a secondary program like Vegas Image or even Photoshop and scroll through the fonts there to figure out what I want to use in Vegas Pro. Would be nice to have it already in Vegas Pro so I don't have to open another program just to preview fonts.

These are high on the list of things we would like to try to get done, so hopefully one day we will get them implemented.

Meanwhile you could use the smart bin option. Create a smart bin with NOT USED MEDIA and a smart bin with USED MEDIA. As soon as you drag an event form the NOT USED MEDIA smart bin to the timeline that event will be removed from that smart bin and added to the USED MEDIA BIN. So you easily can distinguish between USED and NOT USED MEDIA in your project.

how u did that in this video.. 😧😧i can't add new bin in smart bin

This is a silly oversight but so annoying. I'll put it here and hope a dev will see it.

In Text to Speech the voice selection says for example 'Ryan English (United...' What I cant tell without testing the voice is if it is English (United States) or English (United Kingdom) because there isnt room for the whole line. It's a simple fix - please put US or UK.

Don't you listen/test to/the voice you need before? Each voice says its name and the language/location.

Also the first group of "United" stands for UK and the last group of "United", (separated by a lot of other voices) stands for US.

I'm really surprised I did not complain about this myself. We will talk to the Hub team about this and see if we can get this fixed quickly. It should be UK and US...a pretty silly oversight indeed.
