That all makes sense! Thank you @Reyfox. I have managed to get it stabilised through many jank fixes currently and just want to finish my project. My first step after will be to go back to B108 and see if that resolves it. If it doesn't then I will look into other solutions. I think you are onto something with B187 not being able to see AMD GPUs and it might even just be laptop GPUS for some strange reason. Dedicated support is looking into this too and if I get an answer I will be sure to post it here for others.
@Jenny-Smith one slight correction to your reply. I have an AMD GPU and B187 sees it just fine. On my computer, I still have VP20 installed with VP21, and they both automatically detect the RX 6700XT.
So I do think that it's the laptop GPU that is not being detected in B187. So again, if it shows up in B108, something was changed in Vegas possibly.
@Reyfox Having finished my edits I decided to try and downgrade to B108 and it instantly finds my graphics card under the GPU accelration of video processing. So I think the new version doesn't like mobile GPUs.
Sadly I still do not get the corner to adjust items when using picture-in-picture and moving Media Generated text. I have no idea how to fix that part still.
@Jenny-Smith, my suggestion, not to clutter up this post about AMD drivers is to create a new post. Include your hardware (go to your profile and add it to your Signature),
If you are using B108, take a screenshot of the recognition of your 6800M. Then write about (and supply screenshots or recorded screengrabs) of your inability to adjust PiP and animated text (which ones specifically) that are not working for you.
For your reference (using VP21 B187), I just used Vegas Picture in Picture, adding Border and it worked. I could adjust the size of the PiP in the Preview window, and the border color and size were easily adjusted.
I think for desktops the AMD driver 22.5.1 is the best driver for all the VP versions, specially when you use older and newer FX packages, for laptops download the recommended AMD driver from the factory website of your laptop. This gives the less problems, I am running 2 machines with no problems.
@Cameraman1955 my "fall back" driver that has always worked with Vegas and it's various OFX plugins has been 22.5.1. Right now, VP21 is working on my desktop with 23.11.1 so far.
But other software and plugins do not work with 23.11.1, and I've reported the problem to the company and also sent in a bug report to AMD.
@Howard-Vigorita... but, and I am just trying it out in Vegas Effects, the red/blue issue is there.
At first, when I sent a clip to VE, it played fine. No issues. No red/blue changing when I would press play. I thought "life" was good now. But the Default Template (File>Options) was 1080 25P. My project is on a 4K 23.97P video. Changing the Default Template to that, or any other template, the red/blue issue is there.
While the playback in VE is on "pause", the video color is correct. Press play, and the issue is there. It's late now, and I have an early rise tomorrow. Maybe later, I'll try some things in VE and see if it comes back correctly in Vegas.
But it's working here on my computer. Specs in Signature below. So, if it works on mine, and not on yours, where is the problem? Something on your computer maybe?
I have been conservative with updates. Had few issues i could live with, so I didn't update for more then a year. Just saving projects often if it would crash.
Did major update on everything 2 weeks ago, bios, chipset, graphic drivers, firmware etc. Now all my problems are gone. Everything works, stable machine. Even rendering are giving flawless results.
So just maybe being to conservative isn't the right thing either. Running Asus Crosshair VIII Formula with Ryzen 9 5950X and GC RX6800
Yes I try out also the 24.3.1 ( latest AMD driver ) on one machine, tested everything and this one works without issues. After a long time we can upgrade again.
There was an issue with the color in Vegas Effects. Now, everything is back to "normal" and I can use VE again. The color has been fixed in 24.3.1
Yes it is working very good some games had the same color problem I think that's why AMD made a better driver. But it's also great working for us VP users.
