My only concern right now is where does that leave us with what we already have. Will those that have the current Vegas build migrate over to the Boris build with the bug fixes. It would be the right thing to do. Just my thoughts.
It would be quite sad if they left VP23 buyers like that. i'm 100% agree with you.
I hope we get updates about the sequel fairly soon.
I just hope we won't be left high and dry by having to buy another Boris version, otherwise this latest version would have been a complete failure. I'm still glad to see that the software is being supported.
Being a Boris FX Continuum user for several years now, one thing I can say about Boris is that they are quite good with their updates, and what they deliver has for me been rock solid. Now we wait to hear the official announcements.
I do have to say that if I didn't look at the Boris hub I would have never known about this. My current Continuum build is up to date so there is no need for me to go to the hub. And then I really never looked at what they have listed. I guess a Vegas had to go to someone, why not Boris FX. Well maybe Elon Musk would be good too.
Fwiw, I haven't seen any official announcements of transfers, which I assume refers to ownership, from RM Equity to Boris since the Sequoia/SoundForge deal.
Ha, ha, I wonder if the plan is to merge the Vegas forum into their recent Pure App investment 😀... I suppose Vegas & its forum might somehow benefit from a less swiping ui.
@bitman apparently Boris FX does not offer a version of Continuum specifically for Vegas, it also supports Davinci Resolve and other OFX hosts so it might indeed be locked or the info is not fully ready yet
I also found it curious that no extras are included with either Sound Forge or Sound Forge "Plus" and it seems you only get the basic version with Vegas Plus or Ultimate?
In line with these changes, Native Instruments—like Magix, headquartered in Berlin—has filed for bankruptcy. The company’s portfolio includes Izotope, among others; similar to Magix with RM, Native Instruments is owned by a group of investors, in this case Francisco Partners. In this case as well, there are vague hopes for the business to continue, but no concrete information. I fear that neither Magix executives nor Vegas employees like Derek will provide any clarification in the near future—understandable for legal and business reasons, but also a disregard for the many loyal users, especially when they are left in the lurch with VP23 (at least without updates or bug fixes).
I was kinda knew that Magix Vegas was on their last leg. How do I know? think of it back in the Sony Vegas Pro 13 day. Sony stay silence after the latest release of Vegas Pro. Surely, they were sold to Magix and now it happened again. They pulled Vegas 23, 356 and stay silence for nearly over 3 months. This prompt me to believed something had happened within Magix. Now the whole world knowns it has been sold.
So all this "They working hard on it" and "please be patient, soon" was to string us along. Now that it's pretty well known that Vegas has changed hands, you'd think they would post an announcement about this.
Will those of us that have been loyal to Vegas for the past 15 or more years get the BorisFX update? Hopefully, this is a good thing for Vegas, but the consensus seem to be it won't be so good for our pocketbooks. I'm retired and don't have a steady income. The $150 a year for upgrading is palpable for me. I'm afraid that version 23 will have to last me for quite a long time.
That sounds really good (apart from understanding how this is going to affect existing version 23 users). Am a big BorisFX fan. And the Ultimate bundle would certainly save me some money, albeit presumably at the cost of node-locked versions of Continuum and Mocha, which I can probably live with. Now, if Boris could get in contact with Artlist and somehow get hold of the source code for Vegas Effects and Vegas Image that would be the icing on the cake (I can dream, can't I?)
Out of curiosity, I downloaded the trial of Sound Forge (stock, not Plus). It seems to correspond to Pro (bye Audio Studio I guess), the installer size is 849 MB. Some references to Magix are still not cleaned up so this is an unfinished build.
It is now activated through Boris FX Hub (a big hit if the service is not available). Doesn't seem to phone home that often, at least for now, but uses a different activation mechanism.
The trial lasts 16 days, the perpetual license price tag shows up as $299.95, but I'd take it with a grain of salt.
Seems to be launching significantly faster than the previous versions. EssentialFX, coreFX, SequoiaFX all seem to be included.
UPD: Also it's trying to install `Boris FX AI Media Service` along with it.

Sony had ended development of the software and left a long gap whereas Vegas has had updates in the recent past. Not sure what happened with Catalyst beyond a media importer and stabilizer.
So far comparing V23 356 and BorisFX 2026 66, the Boris version does not slow down during some FX (such as MercalliiV6, NewBlue Titler 5). They have fixed the AV1 template crash when changing Ave and Max bit rates. Seems to be more responsive overall. It still has some bugs such as the options not working under the grid lines overlay. Looks like the last three months the Magix team have been working with Boris to fix their version ready for launch. I really hope they have the decency to give existing V23 users the benefit of these updates.
I feel quite positive about all this, my experience with Boris has been very good, in the forums you actually get conversations with the staff & they seem to be on top of things when there're problems. There's some things like - a few yrs ago Boris's Silhouette stopped being fully compatible with VP, Boris said 'something changed with VP that stopped it working', (We all know there's ben lots of changes with VP, basically it was out of their hands & they took VP off their list of supporting hosts for Silhouette. So now that Boris have got their hands on VP maybe they'll fix that & along with it maybe VP will get a fresh update boost in every aspect..
Would be great if your right. I do hate subscription based funding though, and will not be going down that route. At least we have V22 which is the best version right now and is very reliable at least with XAVCS which I use. I get past the GPU driver issue by using HOS to render which is very flexible in formats and sound options.

I also hope that the BORISFX version of Vegas Pro will be free for the users who bought the recent version from Magix. I read the changelog for the BORISFX and it looks like they fixed a lot of stuff.
@Gid The issue you mentioned earlier where the parameters of Sapphire Effects Builder do not show up in Vegas may also be resolved.
@andyrpsmith Yep, some of my Sapphire fxs really slow VP to a crawl & in some cases don't work properly, so I rarely scroll down that far to those fxs.
If not free, the new version should have an upgrade discount for those who purchased previous versions of VEGAS Pro. I wonder what is going to happen with the unused VEGAS Hub content credit.
For those who have acces to the information, could anyone detail the different buying options and what is included in each one?
