I (and seemingly many others) am still waiting for a first Vegas-related email from MAGIX.

Same here.  I contacted them several times asking for confirmation that my registration details were passed from Sony and was told to wait .... but still nothing.

Tewt wrote on 9/20/2016, 10:29 AM

Did you just download the trial only? I'm assuming no one has received their key codes yet. I have not received any emails from Magix at this time.

No, existing registered (Sony) user.  Never got any email from Magix in relation to Vegas.

Tewt wrote on 9/20/2016, 10:50 AM

Sorry, Dead, that was not directed at you but the thread in general. I'm just wondering if people already using V14 received an email and have their keys already. I have not but just read another comment that over the next 3 days they will be sending out the keys.

What I REALLY would like to see is a products page much like Sony had appear somewhere in my Magix Service Center so in case I miss an email, I can still retreive my key. I thought I read they do have that planned because as of right now, an account with Magix is pretty much useless. Things like Info Service, My Contracts, Create an Activation Code, etc all pretty much do nothing for me at this time after making a purchase from them. I'm' sure they have a lot on their plate so I just need to be patient.

For anyone interested, I've managed to get the Show Event Length extension working correctly.  It should be placed in

C:\ProgramData\VEGAS pro\Application Extensions

It shows up under View|Extensions.

Since it's "hacked", I'm not sure about the legality or ethics in  "sharing" but since it was freely available for use, it probably shouldn't make any difference.  Thoughts?

Thinking legally, there shouldn't be an issue sharing instructions on how to modify it. Actually distributing a modified version is a different matter. I haven't contacted Rosebud yet but the more info I can get before contacting him, the easier it should be for him to update it.

Like the increased velocity. Seems to work pretty well.

NickHope wrote on 9/20/2016, 12:24 PM

Holding down <CTRL> comes into its own with the increased velocity envelope. Difficult to get any precision without it.

Ok so I'm slow I guess, but I bought the Vegas 13 with Vegas 14 free package, and for the life of me I can't find where to download Vegas 14. Hints anyone?

So what about all the third-party plug-ins? I got a ton of them, they do make life easier. Sony Vegas 13 vs. Vegas 14 plug-in compatibility? Anyone?

.js and .cs scripts need to have Sony.Vegas changed to ScriptPortal.Vegas in a text editor, plus any references to Sony-branded FX changed to the VEGAS-branded equivalent. Easy.

Application extensions need to have that change made and then be recompiled for VP14. Some vendors have already done that (e.g. Vegasaur, Excalibur). Others probably don't even know about the changes yet, or won't be bothered to update their plugins. If you read back a few posts, there are apparently ways to "hack" some extensions to make them work.

Some "add ons" that we thought might not work, like Debugmode Frameserver, still work.

"Need mxf op1a and color bar with tone."

This is available in Vegas Pro since many years.

Marco. wrote on 9/20/2016, 2:34 PM

"ShowRecDat" probably will be updated later this year. The author is busy right now.

Not sure how about SeMW extensions. I would appreciate an update, too. Will ask later.

jetdv wrote on 9/20/2016, 2:34 PM

Excalibur 6, including the Project Inspector and Auto Save, has been updated for VEGAS Pro 14 and can be downloaded here: http://www.jetdv.com/scripts/Excalibur6-14-0.exe

Montage Magic has been updated for VEGAS Pro 14 and can be downloaded here: http://www.jetdv.com/scripts/Montage1-14-0.exe

These version 14 custom commands can co-exist with the older custom commands in Vegas Pro 13 and older so you can continue working with these scripts in both Sony and Magix versions of VEGAS.

Video of Gary Rebholz presenting Vegas Pro 14.

I have met Gary at IBC some years ago when Vegas was from SCS.
At the time Vegas 7 (if I remember correctly) was presented, they had a quiz, the one who anwsered the questions right first could win V7.

I won it :-)

In VPro 14 build 161 with me no VASST extensions and NB TITLER crashes the program.

It was communicated by MAGIX severals time that NO existing Scripts or Command Extensions will be compatible with Vegas Pro 14 until the authors of those scripts and extensions make the necessary changes to comply with the new API. That includes everything from VASST.

We (VASST) are working on making those changes but please do not start copying files to get things to work because they will not work, and you will only decrease your chances of the updated version working too.

Just to be clear: No existing VASST plug-ins work with Vegas Pro 14 yet.

You can see my review of Vegas Pro 14 in Australian Videocamera Issue 70.

www.australian-videocamera.com

Since writing that review I have got my Shuttle Pro 2 working using Nick Hope's and Grazie's instructions, and have also installed the new Vegasaur 3.0 which works beautifully in VP14. After following the first steps, I just browsed to VEGAS140.exe then applied it.

Grazie wrote on 9/20/2016, 8:25 PM

Solid review Dave. You tell it as it is. Yup, need to kick in the CSP Prefs. Now, how do I do that.....
