why does the fine nudge ( keypad 4&6)only work now and again....is there more bugs in this software than
a tramps shirt??

ion-marin wrote on 10/4/2017, 6:18 PM

Scrubbing performance when "so4 compound reader" is enabled is still really poor. Also looks like GPU acceleration for preview doesn't do much as well (using 1080ti).

Also it would be nice to be able to use proxy's in the trimmer window.

Hoping for performance improvements in timeline for the the next build.

Thanks Grazie.

"4K, 10-bit 4:2:2 AVC files from the Panasonic GH5 camera are now supported"

In case anyones interested, this doesnt include the hevc 6K photo mode and the hevc HDR mode.

They both import with audio exactly twice the video length and the video intermittently shows mixtures of green frames and good frames.

@Former user Any chance of sharing a sample that we can forward to the developers?

@ion-marin What type of footage?

My findings with so4compoundplug in build 216 are listed here.

Switching from Vegas 14 to 15 I now experience the wait-wheel 15 seconds every time I switch from another application back to Vegas. I have used Vegas since version 8 and never had this happen before. It's unbearable.

it's not because of the option to "make files offline when not the active application?"

Thanks malowz, never had my eyes on this option. It was also ticked in v14 I see now, so wonder why it never bothered before. No matter, I'm happy.

This is after firmware ver 2 installed. Files are in the HEVC folder, 1 6K photo hevc file and 1 4K hevc file.

I asked Set about a week ago if he was good with what he had already, from other sources (he kindly removed samples I mistakenly put up, prior to firmware ver 2). I replied to his previous email, heard nothing back, but I guess he didn't see it, maybe went to junk mail, check with him in case he has already some ver 2 files.

Thanks 👍. Please leave them on dropbox until we've had confirmation from the developers that they've got them.

@Former user Could you or anyone else please share a file shot in the new "6k" anamorphic mode? Those files should have a resolution of 4992x3744. The HEVC file structure is probably similar but it helps the developers to have more examples.

For me, the last build of Vegas 14 is MUUUCH faster for preview than Vegas 15.

Before I used old ATI Radeon 4770 video card, and it was slow sometimes on 4K gopro footage, and I got dropped frames in preview.

Then recently I updated to Nvidia GTX1050 Ti, and it doesn't became much faster - I mean vegas 14 previes became better, but in version 15 all I got is dropped frames.

I tested different settings, preview modes, etc.

Vegas 14 is MUCH faster than Vegas 15.

Dear developers, if you want people to buy your software - make them willing to do so. For me, I didn't see any reason to switch to Vegas 15 and pay you money.

P.S. In comparison Premiere Pro gives me realtime previews with zero dropped frames for any kind of footage I use - Gopro 1080 60p, Gopro 4K 30p, 5Dmk3 30p - Everything works just perfect.

Will you optimize most important stuff first, or fix small bugs nobody cares about?

The choice is yours...

I've just uploaded a file, 5, for each Anamorphic setting, 4/3, to the same dropbox link, all in the "Anamorphic " folder.

All Anamorphic files appear ok in Vegas except the 6K one. This 4s clip truncates to 2s video, with 4s audio.

@Former user Thanks very much. Only the first one in that folder is HEVC. It decodes with a half-length video stream and green frames, like the other GH5 HEVC files in build 216. The others in that folder are all AVC and decode OK. Please leave that one online until the devs have downloaded it.

Same, this update didn't fix it. Increasingly feeling like buying V15 was a mistake... (until they fix all the showstopping bugs)

I'm really liking this new update. Great to see the event header can be turned off! For me, they wasted too much valuable screen space, and I much prefer how the overall timeline looks without them.

The swap video proxies option is great too. That's something I won't need to use Vegasaur for anymore. Although when when working with 100fps files from my Sony RX100 IV, I have to render the proxies using the DaVinci Resolve transcoder, as there's still no way of rendering 100fps or 120fps files from Vegas, or Vegasaur.

Just one thing though, I don't find that the default event colours are bright enough to stand out from those on muted tracks, which is something that's been bugging me since switch to 15. As you can see in the screenshot I've included here. The event icons not being greyed should help, but as I glaze over everything, those don't stand out. So I find myself always looking at the mute buttons to see which track is unmuted. Where as with the older versions of Vegas, the events on unmuted tracks were always a lot brighter. So in this case, maybe the events in that 2nd track from the bottom in the screenshot should be more of a pastel colour?

It's not a big deal, but does slow me down, always having to look at the mute buttons to double check which tracks are unmuted. Has anyone else noticed this?

Agreed. Previously, video events on unmuted tracks had a slightly thicker white border around them (both regular and minimized tracks). But more importantly, in the dark interface, the contrast between the grey background of muted and unmuted tracks is very low. And it doesn't help that the difference in the on/off state of the mute button is so low too. So overall, it's far less obvious at a quick glance to see what tracks are muted or unmuted. In the medium interface there is more contrast, so it's clearer, and in the light and white interfaces it's blatantly obvious what tracks are muted.

On thing that can help... If you turn on Active Take Information, unmuted events have a white label, while a muted one has grey. That makes the difference clearer.

Silly question, perhaps: do I need to install the original version first, or can I just install this one?

@3d87c4 You don't need to install the original version first, but if this is your first VP15 installation then you might want to install from a download manager version, which can fetch some other stuff. See section 5 of this for details: https://www.vegascreativesoftware.info/us/forum/faq-where-can-i-download-vegas-pro-and-other-vegas-software--104782/

Thanks, Nick.

I have the other code that came with the original purchase...just didn't install it due to a busy schedule and wanting to wait for an update.

I downloaded the update from your earlier link, but am going diving tomorrow so won't install it for a day or two.

Thank you for the great update!
The problem with low fps in all Transitions (so4compoundplug.dll) is fixed.

Please fix long-standing mistakes that keep me constantly:

EXTENDED MODE EDIT - DELAY UP TO 10 SECONDS

If the project has multiple tracks, returning from Extended to Normal takes up to 10 seconds!
I do not use this feature and I want to turn it off hard if it does not work quickly.
Tips: please do not double click but triple click. Or hard disable and enable in Editing Tools.

CLOSE THE ACTIVE POP-UP WINDOW WITH THE ESC key

Please close the active pop-up window (Transition, Video and Audio FX, Media Generators) with the ECS key. This is how Preferences works.

Thank you! :-)

Sorry my english.
