Vegas Pro 19 crashing and corrupting files

Winstead-BarnesJr wrote on 10/21/2021, 8:18 AM

Unfortunately Im at the brink of giving up on Vegas. I was working perfectly fine before I upgraded to 19. Now it crashes and corrupts the files so that I can no longer work on my projects. This is a nightmare come true. I have asked for help and have not received any information from Vegas to resolve this issue. Here are my specs: Please help.

What you do mean by corrupts the files? Which files?

The project file? Do you mean you can't open it in previous versions of Vegas after saving in 19 or that the file doesn't work in 19 either?

Do look into advanced save within Vegas for help with backups.

Media doesn't look like anything that would cause a problem in Vegas- can you give more clues about your system? Did you go to help/driver update and update GPU drivers? Is preferences/ file io set to defaults?

Before giving up on Vegas try a complete reset, esp. if it inherited settings from an older version: https://www.vegascreativesoftware.info/us/forum/faq-how-can-i-reset-vegas-pro-to-default-settings--104646/

Dell XPS 15 laptop (2017) 32GB ram, NVIDIA 1050 (4GB) with latest studio driver, Intel i7-7700HQ with Intel 630 iGPU (latest available driver), dual internal SSD (1TB; 1TB), Windows 10 64 bit

ok. When Vegas crashes and I restart the project, the project no longer functions. There are glitchy lines, the video preview doesn't worked, it's all useless afterwards. This began happening after just copying and pasting one video clip to another area or undoing an action with control z. Vegas is very unstable and feels unsafe to work with now.

Im not sure what you mean by clues

Winstead-BarnesJr wrote on 10/21/2021, 8:33 AM

I have updated my NVIDIA driver 5 times now. nothing has changed

RogerS wrote on 10/21/2021, 8:34 AM

That doesn't really sound like a Vegas issue. I've seen plenty of Vegas crashes but I don't see how a crash could affect playback after it is restarted. Doesn't make sense.

What's your CPU and GPU?
Are you using Fx or plug-ins on these clips?
Did you try the driver update?
Did you try the reset?

If you updated the same driver 5 times you must be confused. What's the GPU? What is your driver version? Feel free to share a screenshot of help/driver update for help.

I have taken photos and videos with my phone. How do I upload them?

Winstead-BarnesJr wrote on 10/21/2021, 8:43 AM

I have done the reset. I have uninstalled and reinstalled 3 times. I am not confused. I have downloaded and installed the driver from driver updates 5 times. I will do it again so that you can see the completion screen.

I am just working with the files and it crashes. I have rendered it. I apply fx before rendering but it crashes. I did not have this problem before the 19 rollout..

how can I show you my cpu and gpu?

Why would you download the same GPU driver more than once? If the online version and system version are the same, just stop. You can go to help/driver update and take a screenshot (prtscr key). There's an upload button next to the smiley face.

Try "system information" in windows search and write your system model and processor. Device manager tells you GPU.

How about this, let's see if your version of Vegas can render a standard benchmarking project. Download here and render to MagixAVC in 1080p. If that fails, something is wrong with this Vegas installation/system.

What graphics card are you using?
You should use the studio version of the driver that the system suggests to you
