For those concerning the content of this forum, we have done our best to download (yes, Download) this whole site, and make archive. Of course, due to many special script applied in this forum site, this is not perfect copy, but for majority perhaps 90% of conversations, has been successfully archived.

Hopefully we can republish everything even though just read only. 🙏

Thanks for yor effort. I hope you will be able to share this later.

Having worked in software development for 17 years before changing to video production (and now back in software too), I worked many projects involving migration from old to new systems.

We mapped tables and attributes. We mapped codifying "lookup" tables, and assured all data in the old system made its way to the new system.

Why? Because we understood the essential VALUE that the data provided.

It would be a severe (and lazy IMO) oversight of this implementation team to not make every effort to migrate existing content to the new platform. The breadth of knowledge is vast, and undoubtedly helps both new and longtime users alike.

@VEGAS_CommunityManager

Hi

Will this new Vegas forum upgrade affect the Magix forum and the media section as well?

In other words, are they also facing a similar upgrade?

@rraud

I am not sure what the management at Magix will do with the Magix forum...I am only aware of what the plans are for this forum.
As far as Sound Forge and Acid, we do intend to have new sections on the new platform for those products as they are now being handled by the Vegas team (and is consistent with them being sold on the Vegas Creative Software website).

Why not keep the old forum in a read only state. No need to manage it. The new forum could be created without interfering with the old one. The reason given to ditch the old one, 'too difficult to maintain' (I'm paraphrasing) seems to be a weak one. Keeping the old forum in a read only state means that it wouldn't need maintaining at all. Or is there a more obscure reason for ditching it?

The new platform is GDPR compliant and will be moderated.

Obscure reasons? Yes. But some potential reasons could include the difficulty of maintaining this old system and the cost keeping this server running. I am sorry if you consider this a weak reason, but trust me, this really is the only viable option available to us.

As I have stated, we will be looking into a way to preserve the current forum, but any solution will not be immediately available. On top of that, some of the moderators have begun looking into archiving options as well.

Wow, blast from the past! Thanks for the heads-up Nick. Back when Magix first put up their own forum i couldn't get my login to work for ages. I think what we finally did was delete the account and i recreated it. But, by then i was off doing other things. Mostly in hardware sales these days, part owner of a cute little hardware store, without a whole lot of time or money to spend on creative pursuits. Still crank up Vegas & Sound Forge for every Sunday service at church though.

@Reyfox I don't know if I will still have permissions to pin posts in the new forum. Nevertheless, I plan to recreate some of those important posts such as the 'where to download' and the release-history post (if the new forum allows such long list of links etc.).

I have just unlocked the post you refer to and also https://www.vegascreativesoftware.info/us/forum/important-information-required-to-help-you--110457/ so that anyone can make suggestions for corrections and additions below it, so I can try to get them as correct as possible first time.

@VEGAS_CommunityManager

Thanks for the heads up. Will messages be archived for reference? I just ported all my private messages to a spreadsheet to play it safe after losing them all once before.

Direct messages will not be archived or ported over as users will need to create new user accounts on the new platform..

I was able to archive all my direct messages by pasting them into Word . Then I copied them from Word to Excel to organize them better. Pasting them directly into Excel or via Paste-Special didn't work as well.

I hoped that this post is about new release of build of Vegas Pro 23. I am sad that there is no VP23 build yet.

If you are bored, drink water, you will want to pee. -> Albert Einstein - my idol!

I am 46. I have been creating videos since 2009 (the date when my first daughter was born in). My first video software was Pinnacle, next one was Sony Vegas 8 (I am not sure if remember it correctly). I am also a developer and wedding movie operator and editor. For example: I have created an Android app which let me control Vegas Pro rendering progress level on Android smartphone. I created it for fun, because I also love programming. I also created my own plugin for Audio To Text feature specified usage from Vegas Pro 19. I created proxy creation plugin which uses multiple GPU threads (maximum 3) to create proxy files for Vegas Pro. I also written many others plugin/softwares which enhance my video editing, also wedding editing.

Camera/video camera: Sony FX3, Sony A7 III, Sony FDR AX 100, Canon 5D Mark III, GoPro Hero Black 9,10

Lenses for Sony: Tamron 28-75mm F/2.8 Di III , Sony 24mm gm 1.4 FE, Sony 20 mm G FE 1.8

Lenses for Canon: Canon EF 24-70 mm F/2.8 L USM, Canon 70-200 f/2.8 L

Drone: DJI Mavic 3

Editing: Vegas Pro 23 (365) with a lot of third party plugins, also my own plugins written in C#

PC:

CPU: Intel(R) Core Ultra 9 285K

RAM: 128 GB

GPU: Nvidia Asus RTX 5090 Tuf Gaming

storage: 4 SSD drives (including two M.2 flash drives) and two HDD drives

I've put together a guide (VEGAS Pro Troubleshooting Guide: Common Issues and Solutions) on my personal webpage. Most of the solutions come from my own experience and various posts on the current Vegas forum. If newcomers run into certain common issues, checking out this guide right away will help them resolve the problems quickly without needing to post new questions. I think this guide will be really useful once the Vegas forum is updated.

The site is hosted on GitHub Pages and Netlify. The available URLs are: https://zzzzzz9125.github.io/VegTips/ or https://vegtips.netlify.app/.
(I'd recommend using the GitHub Pages one, since Netlify's free plan has relatively limited bandwidth. I'm concerned that if more people visit, it might exceed the monthly limit.)

The page is open source on GitHub: https://github.com/zzzzzz9125/VegTips. If anyone is familiar with Git and would like to contribute, feel free to submit a PR.

My next step is to replace all the links in my guide that point to the old Vegas forum with archived versions.
