Re: Mercalli that came with upgrade to VP14 ...

Just checked, Mercalli is DOA in v15, after re-installing it, the serial no. that came with it in ver. 14 is now regarded as invalid😩

What version of the Mercalli v4 plug in are you running?

You definitely need to have the OFX-files at the new Vp15 location. Best practice is to reinstall Mercalli after loading the actual version from your proDAD account.

This is a bit alarming, an upgrade to the Vegas Pro 15 suite is $350 until September 11? And all were getting is the new interface, a feature to make grabbing a still for a freeze frame which is a feature that was common back in the 90s with Ulead MediaStudio pro, a LUT plug-in and titler pro 5 from NewBlueFX? I already have tittler pro 5 with my Vegas pro 14 suite and I already have a LUT OFX plug-in for VP14. Oh, and we get PIP? Please tells me there's more for an Upgrade price of $350!

Jam_One wrote on 8/28/2017, 10:56 AM

...Then you do not need a $350 upgrade. You need $200 one...

Preview performance in VP15 doesn't seem to have improved much. A 4k file with only one magic bulletfx looks doesn't seem to play nicely, it's about the same as in VP14. My computer is a 36core/72threads dual cpu, Quadro K5000 and 192GB ram inside and all ssd pro's from samsung so it's probabely not the pc that is not up to the task :-). The whole pc even went blank when I closed VP15 and I had to restart, never happened in 14

Because your PC is too cool ;).

So as I never burn BR or DVD, I went with just edit. My machine I7700 4200, 32 gig ram, Rx480 and 512 ssd boot, 6 gig fast HD. I have just played with some UHD stuff and the preview on my secondary 4K TV is like UN-believable smoooth. This is with color correction and a Hit Film filter added. I am just an hobbyist now, but I have about $20 K in camera gear and about 4K in audio stuff and just don't ever want to change my work flow.

If they had added a hook to Samplitude/Audio Studio it would have been better for me, but just the speed increase in render is worth the $200 bucks. I don't know about the other stuff, but I did get a crash after install until I rebooted. I do plan on continuing to do stock but very little edit there. While I like 14 for Mercalli PRO since I have the standalone and batch process will not miss it in Vegas.

Will report back after doing some serious editing but for me just the speed increase in preview is well worth the dollars to remove the frustration.

I haven't installed VP15 yet, but there's nothing in the press release about adding support Panasonic's new UltraAVC codecs (well, new - it's been a while). So I'm guessing that's still not working?

I do like the look of the interface at first glance. As features were fine as far as I'm concerned, the darker interface is important and adding LUT workflow. Overall it seems very similar - which is a good thing.

Ok, what I do most is down rez 4K to 1080P for the internet. With two files (1:30 total) and only CC I get one to one rendering now. With CC and red spotlight on both files, I am at 1.6 rendering. In 14 I was about 3.5 times file length rendering. For my particular needs and systems the update appears to be worth the money. This is using the AVC codec.

First, I applaud the Vegas team for their work -- this is a welcome release. Purchased.

However, I do think nested sequences is a must in today's NLE world.

And... a solid stabilizer. Does anyone have a third party recommendation?

Banduck wrote on 8/28/2017, 11:57 AM

Does nobody notice the new "Magix AVC" Codec which supports new NVidia GPUs? The thing everyone wanted! I think it's worth the money :)

1 Minute 720p Video (unedited)

Sony AVC: 40 seconds

Magix AVC: 16 Seconds

Hi Peter_P .. The Mercalli that came with VP14 ... 4.4.0.471.1.

As I already mentioned I have re-installed it and it doesn't accept the serial number, it may be tied/limited to VP14. If anyone else has the same setup maybe they can confirm, thanks.

I can't figure out the first basic thing for setting up a custom GUI:

OK, nothing has changed. I was just grabbing the windows in the wrong spot (new GUI confused me). I like the GUI a lot: All I changed was to switch from dark to medium, which gave me a very nice warm, dark gray. All the icons I find easy to define and all the text in the drop down menus are easy to read as well. So far so good for me.

EDIT: I forgot to mention that I also used the Icon color strength slider to 43% which is what created the lighter text in the drop down menus)

Seriously? $349 for an upgrade after I just paid for another Upgrade from Vegas 13 to Vegas 14 just a year ago? This isn't an upgrade, this is a masked $349 / Year Subscription plan. The upgrade should cost far less for users of Vegas Suite 14 users since the last upgrade offered so few new features that we were essentially just paying to move from Sony to Magix. I am not willing to pay $349 / Year just to have my Vegas software up to date. No wonder people resort to piracy :(

Does PluralEyes 4.1 work with 15 at this time?

My source video has two audio tracks, but in VP15 appear 4... Why?

Please, on a new thread for this specific issue:

  • Tell us how your source media was generated (i.e. what camera or program) and what format/codec was used (if you know).
  • Post the MediaInfo text report of your source media.
  • Post the VEGAS Files Propertes of your source media (the MediaInfo guide linked above shows you how) so we know which decoder is being used.
  • If the media is not too large you could post a link to a sample of it, for example on Google Drive or Dropbox.

I uninstalled the version that came with pro 14 and installed it again, now also as plugin for Vegas Pro 15.
It is version: mercalli-40-sony64bit 9658 kb

Had to insert again for VPRo 14 the reg code, which was succesfull.

The same code for VPro 15 was code is not valid

Probably your VegasPro 15 is still in trial mode. Mercalli 4 is not part of a trial of VegasPro. As soon as you have bought and registered VegasPro 15 you will be able to activate Mercalli.

I have same problem with Mercalli and my registered version of VP15. I don't know what the cause is.

3POINT wrote on 8/28/2017, 2:58 PM

I use Mercalli 4 plugin that came with VegasPro 14 also in VegasMovieStudio 14, that is no problem. My VegasPro 15 is still in trial mode, so I thought that was the reason.

JJKizak wrote on 8/28/2017, 3:18 PM

While Vegas 15 has not provided everything we desired (I wanted one auto button to read my mind to edit videos) maybe we should cut them some slack to get the obvious stuff fixed which always occurs. Then get the hammers out.
