VEGAS Pro 18 Update 5 (build 527)

Build 527 will not run on my system: Win 10 64-bit build 10.0.19042 on AMD MSI 7B79 Ryzen 7 3700x & AMD Radeon R9 360

I've tried reporting via the crash window (attached) but seems there is no response from magix support.

Have tried re-installing several times and deleting all registry keys and re-booting prior to re-installallation. Pls email me a link to the previous build that I may download, which was working. From what I gather magix in all its wisdom does not have a registered user accessible archive of older versions.

I am having the same problem, crashes within 10min of launch (Win 10-64 on AMD Asus ROG Zenith Extreme w/ Threadripper 2950X & Asus Strix 1080Ti w/ 64GB G.SKILL 3200 RAM).

@bdbutte You are actually not having the same problem. Crash on launch and crash 10 minutes in are totally different. He's on AMD and you're on NVIDIA. We just solved his problem by choosing the appropriate AMD driver that was to blame. Are you on the NVIDIA Studio (not gaming) driver?

Custom PC (2022) Intel i5-13600K with UHD 770 iGPU with latest driver, MSI z690 Tomahawk motherboard, 64GB Corsair DDR5 5200 ram, NVIDIA 2080 Super (8GB) with latest studio driver, 2TB Hynix P41 SSD and 2TB Samsung 980 Pro cache drive, Windows 11 Pro 64 bit

Dell XPS 15 laptop (2017) 32GB ram, NVIDIA 1050 (4GB) with latest studio driver, Intel i7-7700HQ with Intel 630 iGPU (latest available driver), dual internal SSD (1TB; 1TB), Windows 10 64 bit

I have used Vegas for 20 yrs. Love it. VP17 (still installed) runs my mov files perfectly. The latest upgrade of VP18 will not play my mov files. I am in the middle of a paying job. HELP!! VP18 WAS playing my mov files until latest upgrade 527. HELP!!

Works fine (MOV) for me, is the quicktime plugin enabled under the depreciated features tab?

I loaded the current version of VP 18 build 527 on my laptop and it works. The mov files load.

So I erased the program from my Desktop using UNINSTAL on the control panel and reinstalled it.

I selected play Quicktime in Deprecated features. - NOTHING.

This is a nightmare. The job has been a continuing process for over two years. 26 short films. I started the edit in VP 16, continued in VP 17 and even edited in VP 18, but using the prior build 4** (I don't remember).

Surely there is a simple way to either let me reload the older build of VP 18, or of getting some professional help to make my 20 year investment in Vegas Pro WORK AGAIN.

My client doesn't want excuses and neither do I - can someone from MAGIX chime in here please?

Just link me up with MOV source files again.

@vicmilt1 Did you update Win10 and your video drivers to the amd enterprise versions? That worked for someone else. I suggest you also go through your preferences line by line and make sure they match your laptop which works. I'd also suggest avoiding use the obsolete quicktime plugin if possible... I uninstalled quicktime years ago and have never had a problem working with mov files. Btw, the R9 360 is a pretty lightweight card with just 2gb onboard vram... I see allot of later models, higher performance used R9's on ebay.

Unfortunately the current version is not running stable for me, I went back to the previous version.
Regular crashes, I hope my bug reports help the dev team:

 - Crash on any tasks, shorten events, load LUT, move event, etc.
 - The undo history is partly not available.

I have of course updated the NVIDIA Studio driver before.

There must be something up with your set up as I tried all of the above (except load a lut) with three 4K MP4 clips (Sony XAVCS) and have no problem at all. Undo history also working fine.

The chrashes happen absolutely randomly. I load 20x LUTs, it works. Then I do it another time and VEGAS freezes. You can't specify it.

Now I put the previous build on last night, no crash while working.

Maybe I will try a clean install again after the project is finished

For those who are feeling having 'more crash' with PRC report dialog box appear after reading the folder containing MP4, try it again in the next session of VP18b527 after crash happened.

Is it crashing again or just once happening.

I just had it once, but then I retry re-read the folder, and no issue... just sharing.

Build VP18 527

I'm getting frequent crashes while making color correction adjustment, think it's related to GPU Settings not saving in preferences.

In VP17 in the past I had frequent crashes with FXs on video tracks, where I had to change preferences under the video tab of GPU acceleration to OFF. I did that in VP18, restarted VP18 as prompted, and after restart I notice it defaults back to "Optimal - Nvidia GeForce" setting.

What about other settings you customized in Options/Preferences? Do they stay after a restart?

The odd thing is that one of my preference setting adjustments is to disable "Automatically open last project on startup" but didn't do that and noticed last project wasn't opening on startup.

However, to answer your question it looks like, no....none of my preference setting under the General tab are saving as well.

I should mention, I am on the demo version. I just restarted my system and looks like my settings are being saved now.

After the system restart and with modified and saved preferences - is VP18 build 527 stable now?

Just got a crash after turning on thumbnails in the Vegas explorer window when I encountered a C70 mfx test clip. Did not fix itself on restart, however. Turning off thumbnail view in Vegas explorer stopped the crashes. Unless I actually tried to load that clip onto a timeline. I have 3 other C70 test clips and none of the others behave this way. Let me join the chorus of those having trouble with the latest build. After numerous changes to the settings or preferences, making sure the video driver is updated, etc., I have had to revert back to the previous version. Every single HD render I tried over the past two days failed or halted part-way through. I have had moderate luck rendering at lower resolutions (854x480). I tried GPU on and off, etc.. I am an old hand at working through the various Vegas options (since v. 8 or 9, I think) when this happens. Let me emphasize that these crashes when working on mission critical projects are both frustrating and inexcusable for a fairly mature product. This is an incremental update, yet it has introduced the instability one sees in a new version release. Let me also say that the previous version is working with no issues, so the problem is definitely in the update. Better pre-release testing would be my advice to the Magix team.

Does anyone know why I do not see 24FPS on the Render As drop down list? (AVCMP4/1080P). I have 2 computers that show the same thing. I see 25,30,50,60,and all the rest. Vegas 18.
