Handbrake will read and convert nonencrypted DVD files that will open in Vegas.

You can also try MakeMKV.

For help with Vegas, start by providing the file information requested here:

These disc were created using and dual deck VHS to DVD and it's possible I did not finalize them. When I load them i to an external dvd reader connected to my PC, no files appear. Would Handbrake be able locate and convert them?

Still wondering about the RED record button in Video Capture. It's not present on the Capture Screen.

I did not finalize them.

You must finalize the discs in the DVD recorder first. Otherwise no files will appear in any application.

Thank you. I found a Youtube video with finalizing instructions for my model dual deck. Pretty straight forward. Once they are readable I should be able to import the files to Movie Studio. You've been very helpful. Thanks again.

If you can access the DVD files in Windows Explorer, Vegas can usually open the Video TS> <.VTS_01_0.IFO> file for the entire video or the <.VOB> segment files,

The "Gary James" method may not work correctly with recorded DVDs. Handbrake is what I use.

I searched Handbrake and would up with Wondershare Uniconverter. Is this the one you are referring to?
