@Jordan
This thread is collecting feedback on the new build 214 version of Vegas Pro 20.
If you have a problem with "Sony" Vegas 18, you should contact your vendor with confidence, as this version of Vegas / Magix does not exist.

Clicking the Vegas 20 icon does not run.
After rebooting the computer several times, it didn't work properly, but it runs once

Can anyone tell me if this fix:
Fixed problem with hardware decoding of GoPro and DJI files

Was supposed to address the crashing issue I called out in this thread?
https://www.vegascreativesoftware.info/us/forum/vegas-pro-19-crashing-since-upgrading-to-build-643--136130/#ca864509

It seems better, but I'm still getting crashes that will bring down the video driver when I'm switching between ProRes 422 and GoPro files. I can repro pretty easy by playing ProRes in timeline, going to media and scrubbing a GoPro thumbnail. Boom!

fr0sty wrote on 11/30/2022, 12:05 AM

If you can upload one of the prores and one gopro clip to google drive, and share the link here so we can try to repro and identify which hardware configs are experiencing the issue? Make a new thread when/if you do, please.

Thanks, let me see if I can setup a simple repro project. I abandoned 20 241 and went back to V19 550 since it doesn't repro the issue. I sent at least 4 crash reports yesterday before I scrapped my project. Anyone ever look at those? Seems to go into the ether. Magix could really use a user feedback system so we know issues are getting looked at/fixed. As a user I spend a lot of time reporting issues and it's exhausting when there's no feedback to know your issues are addressed or being considered for a fix.

@baksideDisaster_Flicks
Just an FYI: You are here in the User to User forum. If you want to contact Vegas developers directly, you need to open a support ticket.
You will get profound help from experienced users here, and the developers do look in here and check in from time to time, but a lot also depends on how good the information you provide is, and how willing you are to test the suggested solutions.
That's why I would like to remind you again of frOsty's suggestion to open a separate thread for concrete problems, so as not to mix things up.

Oh I know. I've sent them support requests and the experience is lousy. Sent them a support request 48 hours ago, no response. When they do, lots of canned responses that go nowhere. When I send bugs with callstacks it never seems to make it to the developers. I'm packaging bugs up with dump files even. I've cracked the dump files, walked the callstack put that info in, support doesn't seem to know what to do with it.

fr0sty wrote on 12/2/2022, 12:32 AM

Post all that stuff in a thread about your issue, if we can't solve the issue ourselves, many of us have direct contact with the development team, and often bring those issues we can't solve to them to see if they can help figure it out. The good thing about posting it here vs. contacting support, there's a lot of us who can help try to reproduce the issue, which can help isolate which hardware, software, driver, etc. configs could be causing the issue, and that speeds things up for the team once we elevate it to them. We're here to help!

Hi fr0sty,

could you say something about supporting Insta360 cameras / files? I would be so happy if Vegas will support this in future. I think the Insta360 cameras are the most popular 360° action cameras at the moment, so it would be worthwhile.

Ah, and thanks for reporting the 360° Renderbug to the devs. It seems to be fixed at last with Update 1 and I buyed Vegas 20.

fr0sty wrote on 12/2/2022, 4:36 PM

Yes, they did finally kill that bug in the last update. There's another longstanding bug that a lot of users have been reporting lately (not 360 related) that is killed in the next update as well... the team is doing a great job of focusing hard on which issues have been plaguing the community the most, and hammering down on them until they are fixed. The beta team has been doing great helping them as well. Honestly, I've never seen VEGAS development going this well in the past. Some really cool new features being cooked up as well... and those LONG awaited performance improvements are under steady development as well, and hopefully will soon be ready for testing.

As for when insta360 cameras will be natively supported, I can't answer that, but I can say there's a lot on their plate right now that needs to be fixed (like those performance issues, some issues with HEVC and other formats etc) that are affecting a LOT more users, so those things will likely get priority before they start messing with addding new format support. However, with VEGAS now working properly with rendering 360 degree video, converting insta360 video to a format VEGAS can work with will still work.

Hello.
There is a problem.
Important effects are missing from the Video FX list.
"motion blur" and "slow motion".
Do they need to be enabled separately?
Maybe the problem is that the computer is not powerful enough?
Now I'm using the trial version. Maybe these effects are available only after payment?

Thank you!

jetdv wrote on 12/3/2022, 7:14 AM

@Vladimir-Maslov did you install the "Deep Learning Models" AI tools? It's a separate install.

Vladimir-Maslov wrote on 12/3/2022, 8:07 AM

jetdv, yes it was be installed.

but on the computer I found only an installer and there is no such program in the Vegas folder, I can’t find the path where it was installed.

Another bug that will be removed in the next update? I hope it will be a problem with wav editing. Yesterday I edited several wav files and had to convert them all to flac again because they were mixing with each other. There were a lot of mistakes. It played what it shouldn't have played. Really terrible.

RogerS wrote on 12/3/2022, 8:59 PM

I haven't seen many reports of issues with wav so I doubt that's on the list. Have you filed support requests for that?

No. I did not apply for support.

I would as I don't see others talking about wav files specifically.

The first post you link to is about audio in an mp4 video and second refers to mp3 and mp4 files.

I edit wav a lot. Other users edit other types of audio. Nevertheless, we all draw attention to the same problem in the contributions. Random things appear in the sound that don't belong there. I think it's clear.

I edit WAV files all the time, and do not have such issues... are you using ASIO drivers with an audio interface?
