VEGAS Pro 20 Build 214 General Thread

Just gone from 15 to 20 due to a Black Friday offer, and straight away have an issue. I have two monitors, one 4K the other normal HD. When I preview on the HD monitor it isn't scaled down to fit and so I just see the top left hand quarter of the 4K image. I've checked all settings and under preferences played with the Preview Device settings, and confirmed these are the same as they are on 15. I still have 15 installed and I can run that with the same clip to test and low and behold that works fine on the HD monitor and scales it to fit, not so on 20.

So how do I get the preview on the HD monitor to scale correctly?

ANSWER Found the answer in the forum, seems I'm not the only one to fall for this change. It needs the check box setting for 'Use Alternative HighDPI Settings' to be checked under Preferences and Display tab. Why they don't flash up a dialogue advising this when first viewing a preview I don't know.

Look at the "High DPI" settings in Options - Preferences - Display and see if changing those will help.

I have a bug to report. Someone on the VegasPro subreddit took a video of the bug, and I was able to recreate it by following exactly what they did. Normally I have the Compositing Mode button on my track view, but if I have it hidden which is the default Vegas configuration then I'm no longer able to switch compositing mode by going through the menus. It stays on Source Alpha.

Trying to install VEGAS Pro 20 Build 214 on my new computer and it gets stuck here (see picture) for over an hour now. Tried again and same problem. I have Ryzen 6800h laptop and NVIDIA 3060.

I don't know why it's getting stuck.

If you open the Task Manager and End Task any Vegas Pro entries (probably 1 or 2) under the Background Processes listing, the installation process should then continue.

The Vegas Video Stabilization effect is missing in my install of VP20 Build 214. Has this effect been removed from VP20?

Video stabilization is not showing in my installation of VP20. I tried a full reset and cleared the cache but still no Video Stabilization effect available. Any suggestions on how to fix it?

@terry54321 I just saw a thread on this issue here: https://www.vegascreativesoftware.info/us/forum/both-motion-tracking-and-stabilization-effects-are-missing--136928/#ca865204

terry54321 wrote on 12/7/2022, 12:59 AM

The older Vegas Stabilizer does show up if I enable it in Deprecated Features. However, there is a new more advanced Vegas Pro Stabilizer that according to a comment on this forum would require that I uninstall Intel's OpenCL SDK, uninstall Vegas 20, re-install the video driver and then re-install Vegas Pro 20. I am waiting for a response from the Vegas support staff before proceeding.

After upgrading from WINDOWS 11 to version 22H2

Vegas Pro 20 (214) downloads and displays a message

about the error. How do I fix it?

Looks like Vegas cannot decode your media, what media are you using? Use mediainfo to provide information.

(Intel 3rd gen i5@4.1GHz, 32GB RAM, SSD, 1080Ti GPU, Windows 10) Not now used with Vegas.

13th gen i913900K - water cooled, 96GB RAM, 4TB M2 drive, 4TB games SSD, 2TB video SSD, GPU RTX 4080 Super, Windows 11 pro

Try going into Preferences>File I/O and then check the "enable legacy decoders" check boxes.

Systems:

Desktop

AMD Ryzen 7 1800x 8 core 16 thread at stock speed

64GB 3000mhz DDR4

Geforce RTX 3090

Windows 10

Laptop:

ASUS Zenbook Pro Duo 32GB (9980HK CPU, RTX 2060 GPU, dual 4K touch screens, main one OLED HDR)

I started using Vegas back in version 15 or earlier. It may have been slow at times, but when I would render something it always completed the render. I just purchased Vegas 20. Installed this latest upgrade. Tried to render a colorized video that ran 69 minutes. It stopped rendering video at 2 minutes, but continued rendering sound. The final avi file had video and audio for 2 minutes. Then the audio continued and the video was black. I reinstalled everything and this time it rendered 50 minutes with the rest just audio with black video. So I cut the first 50 minutes from my project and rendered the last 15 some minutes allowing for an overlap. This time it rendered the entire 15 minutes. I'm now using a different program to create one avi file for the 2 parts that Vegas rendered.

So it looks like their may be an issue when trying to render a file longer than 50 minutes. Anyone having a similar issue? Anyone have an idea for a way to fix the rendering issue? Maybe this needs to be reported to the Vegas design team. I'm still kind of new using these forms, so would someone either pass on this information or tell me how to do it. Thank you.

fr0sty wrote on 12/8/2022, 10:05 PM

If you make a new thread, post either a sample of the media you are using or a mediainfo report generated from that same media, give us your system specs, project settings, render settings, and what effects you have in use when it is rendering, we might be able to reproduce the crash and maybe even figure out a workaround until it can be fixed.

I have installed vegas for compatibility reasons in english. There is an offer for vegas edit update to Ver. 20 with NB Total FX. When I will get this deal there is a message that says"Dear Customer. For legal reasons, a purchase from the United States Shop is only possible if the location of the invoice receiver is not located in an EU country. If you are located in the EU, please select a suitable offer from another localization. We appreciate the extra effort."

Is this offer suitable only for the american market. I am from Germany.

Kind regards

@wollewien It's probably to do with EU law, warranty is much better than in US. EU has 14 day return if you don't like it, but not true of USA with no right of return for change of mind. Also under EU law the 2 years warranty on digital goods would most likely apply here.

They probably factor in the extra costs. If you are happy to give up your EU warranty rights, you could most likely use a VPN to purchase.

RogerS wrote on 12/11/2022, 10:55 PM

EU may also have taxes you need to pay (VAT?) Try viewing the European/German version of the site to see deals that do apply to you.

20 seems to be more stable than 19, no crash so far with this new version.
My thanks to the development team for that !

But ... the "Video Stabilizer" media effect seems to be broken in VP 20 (build 214). Any insight ?

Crashing on mine as well. Does not matter how long a clip, it takes forever and after 100% you think it is done and then you touch any button or any click and 'boom', it crashes. One of the most usable features since I started with sony vegas pro 10 and now "poof", gone crashing. Hope it will be addressed soon.

@D_B_

This is not the case for me.

Since this is a general feedback thread, it would be better if you open a separate thread and show us your settings there with screenshots.
Then we can better deal with your specific problems.

There is a problem with the "Render as" option. When I try to render a video, the "render as" option throws an error. I'm using vegas pro 20 on windows 7.
