Bad performance with FX bus and ASIO4ALL

vito-lamana schrieb am 23.07.2020 um 15:35 Uhr

I have two FX busses, with reverb and a chorus. If I have them active I get bad performance and pops and dropouts.

Also noticed moving the mixer window around increases power consumption high "very high" in the task manager.

I am on windows 10 , Vegas Pro 17 using a Korg Kronos as input device and a USB Yeti Microphone as headphone monitor.

In FLstudio the performance is very good so I assume it is something with Vegas!

Any idea?

Is ASIO4All really needed on your computer? The native (ASIO) drivers for your dedicated audio devices are almost always listed and available for use in your Vegas Audio Properties.

I mention this because other users have had problems using ASIO4All instead of their dedicated audio device drivers. Just don't use Mapper.

"Windows Classic Wave Driver" is usually trouble free.

I know my system isn’t ideal but I got a roll with the punches for now.

i will provide my machine details ASAP.

So I have my Korg Kronos which can be used as a audio interface but it doesn’t use ASIO. So no monitoring (listening to my input ) is n Vegas.

I want to record while listening to a reference track in Vegas. The korg sends all audio through USB as a mix which unfortunately will then have my reference audio in the recording.
so my only way to go about and do it is to not use my headphones on the korg but my PC. I use my spare USB mic which has Headphone built in as my listening device.

That means basically two audio interface simultaneously which a far as I know is only possible with ASIO.

That’s why I need ASIO4ALL

Or a new audio interface. Even my ancient h4 V1 has full duplex drivers.

See if this recent post is helpful.

Yes you are right. And I am already looking for a new device but

for this project I gotta roll with the punches. I am wondering if there is something that can be done. FLStudio works absolutely fine.

Well, it's a clever use of what you have available.

Have you tried what the guy suggests? You might get lucky.

I installed a different version of ASIO4ALL and am definitely getting a better performance. Here and there I still get drop outs when hitting play/pause.
This made me wonder why not ding the whole voice over action in FLStudio.
not a single glitches there and I can use FLstudio‘s native ASIO.

This is weird though. You got Vegas and DavinciResolve, the big boys that fail badly when the workflow is not exactly the standard workflow. Resolve is even worse.

Recently I noticed that windows (10)is failing to download updates. Keeps pending at 0%. Not sure if that is causing any issues. Last night till morning trying to fix it with the Microsoft woman. Nothing. Last resort, in-place upgrade of windows. Basically re-installing from the iso image without losing data and programs. Even that froze at 46%. Seems to be a number.
So at this point it is hard to say for me whether it’s the software or my system that’s causing issues. Will keep this post up to date.

The fact that two users have had problems with ASIO4ALL just days apart made me think Windows Update might be implicated.
