24p problems

Gabriel-Juillet wrote on 1/29/2021, 12:13 PM

When I edit a video shot in 24p (or 23,98), after the final rendering, it gives me a blurry video. I checked several times if the setting of my file was setted on 24p or 23,98, but it doesn't make a difference. There's probably a setting linked to the refresh rate that cause this problem but I don't know which one. Can someone help? (ps: I work on movie studio platinium 15 and with a Windows PC)

Post here a screenshot of your (customized?) rendertemplate and give also your projectproperties

24p is not the same as 23,98p. When your video is shot with 24p, your project settings should be 24p and also your rendertemplate should be 24p. When one setting is not exactly 24p, smart resampling becomes active and will cause the blurry result.

Here is a screenshot of the problem. You can notice a blurry movement on the windows. I setted my setting on 24p and on 23,98p in movie studio and the result is the same. I don't know what the exact framerate is because in my camera settings its written 24p, but when i click on "properties" of the video, Windows tells me its 23,98p.

Then your video is not 24p but 23,98. Means everything, project settings and render settings must be set to 23,98.

The screenshot is typical for movement blurriness caused by resampling. Make also sure that your camera is not recording with variable framerate.

Post your media properties. I suspect it's not 24p, or you changed its length.

Right click on the media>Switches>Disable Resample

That will eliminate blurriness caused by resampling but can also introduce stuttering frames.

When mediaframerate=projectframerate=renderframerate resampling will not become active (so no need to disable resampling) and output will be smooth with no blurry/ghost images. This works fine as long Camera records with Constant Frame Rates and not with Variable Frame Rates.
