5760x2880 360 Magix HEVC render results in a blank video

ken-dehoff wrote on 1/9/2020, 6:48 PM

Update:

I AM able to use this renderer with a non-360 video - or even a 360 video as long as I don't select the '360 output' option under project properties. Once I select that, I get a black video. So the workaround for now is to not use the '360 output' check box.

All:

I'm using an Insta360 EVO file as input, format 5760x2880 29.97 fps. I'm on the latest Vpro 17 version that supports 5.7k rendering and the software runs, but at the end of the render the file is a black screen. I have tested everything else by rendering in cineform which looks fine. Is there something else I need to do to get usable output out of this codec?

Works fine here. Are you sure you waited long enough after the last frame was processed? On my system it takes a lot of time to finally complete the render process (as long as a cancel button is available in the render info window the render process is not yet completed).

Nothing so simple. I've tried as many tweaks as possible - they all have this same result - black. I've disabled all H/W acceleration, reinstalled Vegas Pro 17.

Workflow: Exported insv files to mp4 with no processing (no stabilization, etc) in Insta360 studio. Imported into Vegas Pro - no filters or effects added. Render As Magix hevc/aac mp4/Internet 5K 2880p 59.94 fps. project options - 360 output is selected, smart resample is disabled.

After another user reported same issue I re-tried yesterday and now I can repro. 5k HEVC output works fine if 360° is not selected in project properties and once I select 360° the 5k HEVC output will result in a black frame video with muted audio. Didn't find a workaround for Vegas Pro.

@ken-dehoff

First, let me say that I know nothing about the Insta360 EVO and its use. I did, however, download a clip from YT as a test and was able to successfully render it at 5K 2880 using HappyOtterScripts with the 360 checkbox ticked. Unlike most codecs in Vegas, HOS can render most frames sizes and frame rates without the need to create a render template for each option. Here's the demo.

If you upload a sample file, I can verify with your footage or you can download HOS at https://tools4vegas.com/

AKA the HappyOtter at https://tools4vegas.com/. System 1: Intel i7-8700k with HD 630 graphics plus an Nvidia RTX4070 graphics card. System 2: Intel i7-3770k with HD 4000 graphics plus an AMD RX550 graphics card. System 3: Laptop. Dell Inspiron Plus 16. Intel i7-11800H, Intel Graphics. Current cameras include Panasonic FZ2500, GoPro Hero11 and Hero8 Black plus a myriad of smartPhone, pocket cameras, video cameras and film cameras going back to the original Nikon S.

I think this issue is still at large. Anyone know if the Magix team has this acknowledged as a known bug?

my current Win10/64 system (latest drivers, water cooled) :

Intel Coffee Lake i5 Hexacore (unlocked, but not overclocked) 4.0 GHz on Z370 chipset board,

32GB (4x8GB Corsair Dual Channel DDR4-2133) XMP-3000 RAM,

Intel 600series 512GB M.2 SSD system drive running Win10/64 home automatic driver updates,

Crucial BX500 1TB EDIT 3D NAND SATA 2.5-inch SSD

2x 4TB 7200RPM NAS HGST data drive,

Intel HD630 iGPU - currently disabled in Bios,

nVidia GTX1060 6GB, always on latest [creator] drivers. nVidia HW acceleration enabled.

main screen 4K/50p 1ms scaled @175%, second screen 1920x1080/50p 1ms.

yes, i have the same problem with vegas 19, you can choose any resolution in project settings, and any resolution for final render, but as soon you mark "360 video" in project settings the rendering is blank...

@themonsterit Please start your own thread for your 2022 issue with Vegas 19, which wasn't even in existence then, Thanks!

When you do that, this is the information that is needed for forum support:
