A docked Take Chooser?

Does anyone know if there’s a way to get a docked Take Chooser - or at least one that doesn’t close? This would be useful for my workflow for faster take selection… and especially since the right-click menu only holds 10 selections, and having to manually open the Take Chooser window every time is an awkward processs.

How about just pressing “T”? This cycles through. You can also cycle backwards. Any good? Another way is to do a Search for Takes and stick ‘em in a Bin. Any good?

You could write a custom command that does this for you.

Personally, when I use takes, I just press "T" until I get to the one I want.

I played around with “T” today and, while it’s great if there’s just a handful of takes, it ends up being more of a nuisance if there’s like 10-15 (talking still images here).

I don't do so many video takes as you, but I often have 15-20 audio takes on a concert event before I settle in one one.

I think your suggestion is righteous as a Feature Request, and you should promote it as such, but the "Save Early, Save Often" philosophy for Projects is what I have relied on for many years.

Indeed.

@daniel-t and in the meantime, whilst this comes to pass, do try my alternative SEARCH on the variable or text “Take” and create a Bin under Project Media where you could see Thumbnails, play and even export to Trimmer if needs be.

@daniel-t - I like your idea and is worthy of support, you’ve got mine 😉.

(I really miss Media Manager….. 😢)

I'm trying to figure out the "take" search. Unless the file has the word "take" in it, it doesn't come up. I was hoping it would automatically find any media that's in a multiple take situation, but I guess that's asking too much. Otherwise I seem to have to tag all my media with "take", or just manually create bins with various takes sorted into groups (something I'm kind of already doing with actual file folder structures - Vegas' file Explorer occupies one of three monitors on my system for this express purpose).

My main issue with this system is, every time I right-click-drag something from a media bin onto an already existing event, it just adds it as a new take even if that exact media is already assigned as a take. Which ends up creating a messy file, something I'm a bit anal with (I'm the kind of guy that goes through and deletes unneeded takes on certain events as I go).
