Another GPU topic: Surprising rendering results with and without "Lega

Hello,

My computer is bulit with a Xeon 8 cores cpu, a GTX 960 gpu and 16GB RAM 3000MHz.

The test project was 2 minutes 4K with color corrections.

Rendering into 4K 50Mbps Main Concept mp4.

Test results:

Legacy GPU rendering On:

GPU Acceleration of video processing on: 16:13 minutes

GPU Acceleration of video processing off: 16:37 minutes

Legacy GPU rendering Off:

GPU Acceleration of video processing off: 15:21 minutes

GPU Acceleration of video processing on: 14:39 minuts

As you can see, the function "Legacy GPU rendering On" makes rendering longer - the opposite than you would think, with or without GPU processing turned on.

Do you think an AMD RX 480 / 470 would be better for rendering Main Concept?

Your 8x Xeon will outpace gpu under most circumstances.

Hi liork, very interesting. By the way if you add titles, effects and transitions to your project will Playback preview window play better with or with out GPU?

GTX 960 gpu

Your gpu can't be used for hardware encoding with Mainconcept. Only Nvidia gpu up to 5xx are supported.

No, but will most probably enhance your timeline preview when using multucam or a lot of effect.

All information are already in Nick's FAQ post.
