[ANSWERED] Like to Know Your Theory on Rendering Outside Project

razor7video wrote on 11/18/2019, 6:21 PM

Hello Group--

I have begun adding video clips to my sequence/timeline and have needed to go to YouTube for some pointers relating to fx. One in particular is speeding up a single clip in a project, but here I'm looking for your overall practices/theories since I can't rely 100% on TY videos for best practices!

Question: When do you decide to render a clip to apply fx outside your project and then import that rendered clip back into your main project timeline, vs just waiting until you render the entire project?

My understanding is that the quality can degrade if you render a clip outside the project and bring it back in, so I only want to render outside the project if I'm having issues waiting to render the entire project at its completion.

Thanks!

You don't need to separately render each effected media event.

You do need to be careful when ordering the effects within each clip, however. This can take years to learn.

I see. Thanks. So you don't make the decision to render a clip with fx outside your main project? I was having an issue getting the clip I wanted to speed up just right and I didn't want to render the whole project just to check that one clip, so I did render the clip on it's own and then imported that clip back into the main project. For me, I think I want to confirm an fx is going to do what I want it to do before I finish the project.

Ideas?

Thanks,

Stephen

That is what "Selective PreRender" is for.

File or RAM options.

Or Render to New Track.

Study up.

I saw that function after my post. Thank you!
