Audio

I have downloaded Vegas yesterday. I want to quit magik deluxe premium for a better software. The audio in one of the most important things for me into a movie. Many programs are weak on that side. Vegas seems to need a companion if you want to work on your audio file. I did a test with audacity editor, it doesn't accept to program as it is. Same for AVS audio. Even more it doesn't read mts, m2st, MP4 codecs. Maybe I did something wrong on the second day. For the moment , I don't want to involve me into a renting software like Adobe. It takes a while before to know if you like it or not. Every company advertise their products saying they are the best. No program is the best if it doesn't meet your needs. My question is why to connect Vegas with another software . Why it is so complicated to make audacity your main audio editor? I haven't explored the software deeper, because I want to know if this is one who can satisfy my needs as a film maker but sometimes you have to work with a tiny crowd when you are into documentaries .

Thanks

Wish you the best

Normand

When Vegas and Audacity are open at the same time, they can compete tor your audio drivers and force a reboot. Usually happens when Vegas is run on Mapper, rather than ASIO.

I doubt Vegas devs are very interested in making a deal with a third party freeware that competes with their fully connected audio work$tation$.

I may be mistaken, but I don't believe Adobe Audition would open as the default editor either, if that's of some consolation.

I have no problems using Audacity as my default editor with MS14. But it's best to "open copy in audio editor". From memory I recall it's the same if you use Sound Forge. There's nothing complicated.

Neither do I have problems with mts, m2ts or mp4.

Thanks, Eric.

What you said about "best to 'open copy in audio editor'" is indeed true of Sound Forge as well. I don't believe I got Audacity or Goldwave working as the default back when I tested them.

Of course Normand needs to have Audacity nominated as the editor in the Preferences\Audio Tab. It's not clear whether he did.
