Audio Quality or accuracy ?

Typically I use Audacity for recording audio tracks, but I was wondering what the quality of recording an audio track in Movie Studio would be? This would consider that everything else is equal (DAC, sample rate and bit depth...etc.) So, I'm not talking about the rendered output, but rather the processing quality (algorithm? math used).

It's processed with floating point math precision at the sample rate you set in project properties (up to 48 kHz).

Thanks Marco.

Not to start an argument, but then Audacity(which does the same) and other free programs are equal in terms of math precision compared to professional audio editors (Vegas, Pro Tools, Steinberg..etc.). If one isn't concerned with features, just digitizing accuracy, then that's good news.

The float point principle is the same, but each DAW may use different dither, shaping, and even rounding algorithms. You will hear differences, but they do not fall into "better" or "worse" categories until your subjective brain places them there.

Musicvid, I appreciate all the time you've been on many of these forums (like the old Sony ones). Geez you've made a mark. That's a good comparison and makes a heck of a lot of sense.....much like how photograph software handles Raw photo images. Would you have an opinion on the "colorization" of digitizing audio using Audacity vs. Vegas ?

I've never run such a comparison with Audacity, either subjective or quantified.
