Blurry (sketchy) text over color gradient background

Kayo wrote on 5/7/2019, 1:43 PM

Hi, Just installed Vegas MS-16 Suite. This is my first time using this product. I put some text (with an FX) over a color gradient background and the text is not clear at all. I viewed it full screen as well as in the editor and it views the same. How to fix this? Thank u! Using windows 10. How do I attach a pic so you can see what i'm talking about?

1. Set your preview to Best/ Full. Does it look better?

2. What size is your font? Is the text box upscaled?

3. Use a sans serif font (look it up). Pick a font with good body weight like Arial. Delicate and calligraphy fonts just don't read well in video.

4. Keep your text and background in 16-235 range (apply Studio RGB Levels filter on the output.)

It should look a lot better once rendered. Search the forum for any key terms you may not understand.

Your image doesn't appear to include your text track. How are you creating your text?

That shows the text track.

Change your preview quality to full. It is right above the program window.

MusicVid - I changed the Preview to best/full and it looks great!! Pretty sure I used font size 24 and 18, Times New Roman. So, all I changed was the Preview Quality. Thank u so much!! But there seems to be a steeper learning curve than in other edit programs I have used. I am not sure if I will stick with this or try another one even though I did buy this one. I want to get a project done by end of month. just need to be able to manipulate effects and edit with pics and vids, a few text pages. Thanks to MusicVid. Not sure how to tag him in this post.

Acknowledged. I think it is worth it. For seventeen years.

The resources available in the forum, tutorials, and online will help level out the learning curve. It's a unique software approach that has withstood the test of time.
