Can multicam editing be "undone"?

Steven-S wrote on 4/17/2020, 10:10 AM

Hi, I am in Movie Studio Platinum 16, I started with three video tracks. I instigated multicam editing mode and started to edit. All three tracks are now on one track. In hindsite I should have done any editing to these individual video tracks BEFORE instigating multicam mode. Is there any way to "undo" the multicam mode and go back to the original three video tracks? Unfortunately all three video tracks were made up of many multiple clips tediously aligned to the audio tracks. I know that Movie Studio is non-destructive so it would seem the tracks could be resurrected somehow??

Thanks

Steve

Yess, they stay unharmed as they were before the use in VMS, in the same location you placed them, VMS is a NLE.

Well they are not in the same place I put them. Where I put them was on three separate video tracks, after instigating multicam editing, all three video tracks are in one video track. My question was how do I revert back to three tracks after instigating multicam mode which places them all in the same track. Thanks for any advice!

I was not talking about the video tracks in the edit program , but I was talking about the location they are on your hardware, where you put a videofile.
To make a total video out of one or more you LOAD that file in the program, while the file itself stay unharmed so you are able to use it again in the same project or another project ( of the software)

Is there any way to "undo" the multicam mode and go back to the original three video tracks? this was the question, I should have mentioned "without starting over"

No, I saw that option only in the Pro versions I used when I did those.

I ALWAYS render my tracks to new tracks before enabling multicam. For backup and contingencies, and well worth it.

Or save a version of the 3 tracks before multicam.

The advice I gave you to duplicate your tracks works for me, for eighteen years in commercial production. Does it not work for you? Can you please explain in detail how it is not working for you, thanks.

I wasn't replying to you, lol. I was replying to j-v. The advice you gave would have been great if I had gotten it before I created the problem which inspired the question. I just now saw your advice and will do that in the future. The answer to my question was, "no, you cannot undo the multicam editing in Music Maker Platinum 16". FYI I upgraded to Vegas Pro 17 and started over on this project. Going great!. Thanks again for your help!
