Change the default Alpha Channel Setting?

Hello,

I have just started checking out the latest version of Vega Movie Studio and so far I'm impressed. I've been looking for a new video editing software for awhile and this has by far been the best experience I've had in a long time.

With that said, there's one quirk I've noticed. When I add media to Vegas Movie Studio it seems the "Alpha Channel" settings (right click on the media - go properties - go to the media tab), is set to None. I've noticed this causes problems with a couple scenarios. With PNGs it makes them not transparent, and I've noticed that when I import a piece of video where the frame rate doesn't match perfectly, it causes some blending / ghosting. Both of these are solved by switching it to Straight (unmatted).

Is there a way to change this default setting?

Vegas tries to determine the alpha status of the sources you import, but it misses some of them. There is no way to set a default since it is determined per clip.

I wonder why PNG files doesn't work for you. I never had to switch the alpha setting for PNG files.

Could you offer such a PNG file for download?

It's a known quirk with some png files that goes back years, and it showed up once in my Vegas 8 where source alpha was not correct. I recall others posting about it. I don't know what is needed to repro...

Thank you for the replies. Based on the information above, I tried a different batch of PNGs and those do work default. It must be the settings that this initial batch was done with. Thanks everyone.
