Chroma Key

I'm having some trouble with a green screen project. I didn't light the backdrop evenly enough so in the lower left corner I am not getting a good key. I've tried playing with the sliders in the chroma key effect and can get it almost there - but then the rest of the key on the talent starts to fall apart. I've cropped and panned the event as far as I can and I am not able to reshoot anything. It's almost unnoticeable but I know it's there. My question is, I'm more of a Photoshop guy, but is there a way to mask off the offending part of the green screen so the image on the next track will pass through cleanly? I'm using VP 13 if that matters. Thanks for any tips.

If the talent isn't moving too much, cut a mask and fill the outside with secondary CC to match.

If you will download VP17 trial, you will find Bezier masking; haven't tried it myself.

Bezier masking in VP17 might just confuse the issue for now

Can you post a few frames of the problem area. It sounds like the offending area cannot be cropped or masked without cropping or masking over your talent as you seem to know what you are doing.

Thanks for your replies. I figured it out right after I posted. I just used the mask function in the pan/crop tool to mask off the left edge of the events. It's a talking head video so there's not much movement in the frame so it works fine. I knew there was a mask function someplace and right after I posted my question it popped into my mind. Thanks again for the quick responses. 😊

Yes, I use that one a lot. There is also a cookie cutter mask in your version.
