The funny thing is that I converted the source file from MP4 to WMV because Vegas was having issues loading the project when the source file was MP4. I will try your suggestion.
No problem doing that in VMS16 Platinum build 109 on laptop from signature. One thing not normal compared to only use of mp4's, being building a proxy file for the audio that the program was needing. You can see that message on my video of it. Maybe you had there no patience enough? MediaInfo of the used WMV and the video

Exactly what problems did you have with your original source mp4? Why did you think converting it was necessary? WMV / mp3 is not an editing format; however, mp4 generally is.
The real, actual, pristine, untouched, original, unaltered, unadulterated source is all we can possibly be interested in, not some third-generation Frankenfile.
Please start over, following the exact same steps for your original source mp4, as was requested. Next, please upload your original mp4 sample to a mainstream fileshare, not YouTube.Thanks.
If for some reason it needs to be converted, we will tell you exactly how. Really.
(I have no idea why anyone would report success with opening WMV/WMA, a recognized file format, in Vegas. Of course we would expect it to open.)
