Constant Prerendering to avoid laggy playback

Version: VP19

Windows: 11

Graphics: Card (NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650 Ti)

Not: Pirated

I have: Had a rendering problem for an extensive period of time (which these forums have been extremely helpful with) and recently solved the problem through video proxys of all one hundred of my clips before placing them into the timeline, and prerendering once they're in. (the clips are filmed in 1080p at 60fps and come from my nintendo switch video the micro SD card and a little bit of clips from my HD60 S elgato capture card) However, I have since revisited my long-postponed project and am growing increasingly impatient at the rendering of my clips yet again. Prerendering when working with video proxies worked immediately, however if I make even the slightest adjustment to any clip, I have to prerender the entire section again in order to view it in the playback fluently. Is there a way to make this part easier for me? I obviously can't edit the video without immediate and accurate feedback from the playback, which is unusable unless I prerender the section constantly. Additionally, do I have to make video proxies every time I start up the program? I know the immediate purpose of video proxies, I just don't entirely know how they work yet. All feedback is welcome.

Video proxy files created in Vegas are stored with the media and do not have to be recreated. Preview or draft quality shows proxies. You can see the originals in full quality by changing to best/full.

If you are having this much trouble with 1080p you might just re-encode them all to start with to a format that causes less issues for your computer (use Handbrake or Shutter Encoder to re-encode to easier to playback AVC or ProRes) in the future, and dispense with proxy files and pre-rendering.

Don't open files in Vegas directly from your SD card. Copy them to the desktop first. Are the Elgato captures from broadcast source?
