"Create Multicamera Track" is greyed out VP 16

DMetz wrote on 11/8/2019, 7:12 PM

I am using Vegas Pro 16. Whenever I select two or three camera tracks and then go to "Tools" and "Multicamera" the "Create Multicamera Track" is greyed out and therefore inaccessible. I can access "Enable Multicamera Editing" but it only shows one camera view in the preview window. I have tried this on several different files and have closed out the program and shut down the computer multiple times. Any help would be deeply appreciated!

Thanks,

DMetz

That is not the way you have to do it.
You have to use one step more.
1. Select the tracks
2. Choose "Enable Muliticamera Editing"
3. Choose "Create Multicamera Track"

j-v,

Thanks for responding right away. When I choose "Enable Multicamera Editing" first it is still the same problem: "Create Muticamera Track" is still greyed out and inaccessible. I noticed that on your video, "Create Multicamera Track" was available (not greyed out) before you chose "Enable Multicamera Editing". Thanks, but I still have a real problem here.

Are you able to give screenshots or screenvideos of the problem showing the whole Vegas interface?

The screen videos are something I will have to learn to do eventually but I found a way to solve the problem that makes no sense at all but it is totally consistent in 3 different files I tried.

Press CTRL A to select all. Even if you select all tracks one at a time it will not work. Press CTRL A and go to Tools and Multicamera and Create Multicamera Track is now accessible! Now, if I deselect all the tracks and select only a couple at a time I can now also access Create Multicamera Track! Bizarre! I tried this on three different files and it did the same thing. Everytime you open a new file you have to hit CTRL A first. I am lucky I stumbled on to that. There must be some sort of bug. I had reinstalled the Vegas Pro but that didn't make any difference. j-v, thanks for caring enough to help me out.

Peace,

DMetz

Be Sure to back up all your tracks before creating a Multicam Track. You'll find out why during editing.

Creating a video of a bug is easy. Install OBS studio, which is very handy software to have around even beyond this usage, and then open it. It should, by default, be set to capture what is on your desktop. There's a start recording button, press it and a video file will be created in your windows "videos" folder that captures everything on your desktop. From there, record the bug, then post that resulting video here using the little upload button at the top of each post when making a new one (next to the smiley face icon).

If this is a bug, that will help the developers isolate and squash it.

Glad you found a workaround in the mean time!
