steliosfan wrote on 12/9/2021, 6:04 AM

Dear all,

Just upgraded my latptop with a Dell XPS 9710 17"

Processor 11th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i9-11900H @ 2.50GHz   2.50 GHz
RAM 32.0 GB (31.7 GB usable)
GPU GeForce RTX 3060

I edit mainly Canon R6 c-log 10bit files and i would really appreciate your help on choosing my setting on I/O

On the hardware decoder should i use Auto (Intel QSV) or Nvidia NVDEC. Also should i check or uncheck the legacies?

Thank you !!

That looks like a nice computer.

A lot of the questions that you are asking will depend on the specifics of the media that you are using. Therefore, please upload a MediaInfo report (in text view) as per https://www.vegascreativesoftware.info/us/forum/faq-how-to-post-mediainfo-and-vegas-pro-file-properties--104561/ re your media. Also, what render output are you aiming at using?

Hopefully, you will have already undertaken your own testing of the various options that you have outlined. If so, it would be good to know about your conclusions?

Basically you have to use the default settings during installation made by the program (Vegas 18 or 19) itself, unless you did not yet install the latest DCH videodrivers for your Intell and Nvidia GPU's

Simply go with the default settings for now...... If later down the road you run into issues, then, you fiddle with the settings.

XPS 15 user here. Keep decoding on auto, AVC to not legacy and HEVC on legacy unless you use HEVC file types legacy doesn't support.

Use a recent NVIDIA Studio Driver.
