I had Movie Studio 8. and I am now getting Movie Studio 15 Platinum.

I never new how one thing worked and I wanted to ask?

I live in the USA so I set my Project Settings to 720X480 NTSC and because everybody has Widescreen I set it to Ratio Widescreen and then I set my Frame Rate and save.

When I make a Video and I go to Render As say I pick MPEG2. all the Settings will be changed by Movie Studio for whatever MPEG2 is.

Or do I have this Wrong and what ever Settings I set my Project Settings to this is what it will be no matter what Template I Render As?

No, you may get letterboxing or pillarboxing. Usually your project aspect should reflect your source media and your render template the same.

Is your source material 4:3 or 16:9?

You cannot change 4:3 video to widescreen by selecting widescreen. That will add black bars to your display aspect.

This is how I should have asked?

If I take a Video from my Camera that is Widescreen and Import it into my Timeline.

And I have my Project Settings Set to 720X480 Widescreen 30 FPS and go to Render As MPEG2.

It will keep the video as Widescreen because my Project Settings are set to Widescreen.

And if my Project Settings are set to NTSC 4:3 and Render As MPEG2. it will take my Widescreen video I have and make it a 4:3 image because my Project Settings say this.??

No, you need to select your required format template when rendering, either NTSC or NTSC Widescreen. Otherwise you may get letterboxing/pillarboxing.

Try exporting a few secs of your project trying the different scenarios you mention. That's the quickest way to find out.

I am so so so Sorry I am not asking Right.

What I mean is after I set my Project Settings for me who is in the USA witch is 29.97 FPS and a RES of 720X480 and a Ratio of Widescreen.

Ok my Project Settings are now Setup for me in the USA.

So this means what ever I Import into my Timeline everything will be ajusted to my Settings in my Project Settings I just did?

Or is this not what the Project Settings are for?

Projectsettings make only new things made by Vegas in the dimensions of your projectsettings.
All other (own) material is used as it is or sometimes with new dimensions when those dimensions are different from your projectsettings.
All output getting the dimensions you choose with the "Make Movie"or "Render as...."options matching your projectsettings.
With render as you are also able to change that to whatever you want ( sometimes using the "Customize' option).

No Sir.

Only your Render Settings can do that, and they should match your Source Media.

Project Settings above the line affect ONLY the Preview. Nothing else.

You cannot change Aspect (the Shape of the Rectangle) without Cropping, Stretching, or black bars. Please be very clear, the tail does not wag the dog.
