DNxHD Codec in Vegas

In case anyone is interested in importing DNxHD footage (potentially from Resolve for instance), you have to install the Avid codec first. I forgot you had to do this, and kept getting an error message saying I had a faulty installation of Quick Time, which doesn't even work on Windows 10. In my case, I was bringing in a QuickTime .mov file from Resolve, DNxHD 1080p.

Open the media Properties and tell us which library (dll) is being used to decode the file. You are on 15?

It says qt7plug.dll. It seems to be working now with codec download. Is this not correct?

Use the DNxHR Decoder - but take care: this Decoder will not be decoded as 10bit in Vegas. Both in Terms of Performance and Decoding in 10bit I would use ProRes in Vegas.

It looks like Vegas is opening it and not Quicktime 32 bit. That is possibly a very good thing.

Wolgang, DNxHR won't open as 10 bit in Vegas?

Marco. wrote on 5/23/2018, 1:38 PM

None of the Quicktime (except of ProRes) or VfW (except of CineForm) coded videos could be decoded 10 bit in Vegas Pro.

Edit:
For VfW also V210/Sony YUV decodes 10 bit.

Does Sony YUV 10 bit codec open as 8 bit also?

Magic YUV?

I don't have a monitor to try and test this stuff, so my learning curve isn't so steep later on.

Sorry, I forgot about V210 aka Sony YUV 10 bit which also decodes 10 bit. Will correct above now.

No, it is decoded as 8bit only.
